From WoWWiki’s entry on Ancient Kalimdor:
The war raged for many years, but it was soon determined that even the vast armies of the titans would have trouble defeating Y’Shaarj, the most powerful of the Old Gods. In desperation, Aman’Thul himself reached down onto the planet and ripped Y’Shaarj from the surface. Though killed, the Old God had burrowed very deep into the planet; a great hole remained, leaking Azeroth’s lifeblood onto its surface, and pieces of the Old God’s body rained down, spreading evil where they landed.
[snip]
The titans and their keepers turned their attention to the new hole in the center of Kalimdor. The keepers labored for a long while, but succeeded in crafting powerful magical wards to contain the rift’s powers and prevent Azeroth from almost literally bleeding to death. All that remained was a great lake of scintillating energy, which the keepers dubbed the Well of Eternity.

If the Well of Eternity was created over the wound in Azeroth where she was bleeding, doesn’t that mean it was powered by Azerite?

Yep, I mentioned this before when expansion released. Interesting right? And remember its this stuff that turned trolls into elves.

The well was made of liquid Titan blood mixed with water.
Azerite is crystallized Titan blood.
It’s similar but different.
Like one of them is water with sugar and the other one is rock candy.

It also means that nightborne are vampires

It’s still odd we have yet to see goblins and other races working very closely with Azerite start evolving from exposure… If Troll --> Elf then I’m very curious what goblins turn into.

I think I remember something like the titans was the one that crafted the well. So, I think it was an azerite wound back then but the titans did something and turn it into the well.
The evolution happened over the course of many generations and centuries. It was a slow process, not an overnight one.
It hasn’t been out for that long. From my understanding, the Dark Trolls had been living by (and probably drinking from) the Well for quite some time.

Oh wow and the sundering just tore that scab right the H off. Very surprised there wasn’t or isn’t a ton more azerite just lying all over the place. Not just the BFA zones.
It wasn’t a scab, though. Which is why the Arcane waters just swirl like they do. Mortis made a good comparison.
You mean lice. To a dog, lice aren’t vampires. To a planet, whine elves aren’t vampires.
I mean… it kind of makes sense.
The Well of Eternity was made by the Titan’s ripping an Old God out of the ground… I guess kind of the equivalent of removing a tumor without any kind of preparation for it.
Then they kind of went “oops” and imprisoned the rest of them so they didn’t accidentally kill the baby Titan.
Honest, upstanding citizens.
Absolute nonsense. You have to have a trait for Azerite to empower, and Goblins don’t have any of that.
Takes awhile mate even if Elves are basically magic evolutionary it still takes time even for them, plus Goblins are an already evolved species from a type of titan blood known as Kaja’mite thats how Gallywix knew Azerite was the big deal when he told Sylvanas about it.
Kaja’mite is basically an alternate form of Azerite more natural perhaps? less forced like whats happening now, only two pockets of the stuff exist on the planet Kezan and Gorilla Gorge and generally you gotta dig deep for it anyway.
Theres all forms titans blood can take it seems depending on the circumstances, blood as a still blood form like when you killed Argus on heroic before 8.0 started, Kaja’mite found deep within the planet as a more natural mineral merge form, Well of Eternity and the vials created from it when mixed heavily with water to dilute the bleeding and finally Azerite which is super pressured titan blood bursting through the planets crust at an abnormal rate causing it to harden almost instantly (yes i just did a better job at explaining the alarming of azerite more than Blizzard has).
Interestingly enough, both on islands close to what was the center of Ancient Kalimdor… Maybe Kajamite is god plasma.
