Was in a dungeon recently, when there was a boss that was close to my characters backstory, when we killed it I /smiled and told the group I feel a weight off my shoulders. They preceded to berate me, call me names of all kinds and then kicked me. After I was kicked they continued to whisper me for a while. Please learn to treat people correctly
Listen I’ve seen goldshire on moonguard if anything Role Players are treated to kindly around here.
For the most part I find a tremendous amount of patience among other players for me indulging in a lot of extended story and role playing. There’s definitely a subset of players who have a nasty reaction to it though. I find it’s the “Get in, get the loot, get out and back to Trade chat.” ones who don’t even pay attention to the story in the first place.
For clarity did you just smile and say those few words?
Like what was the actual interaction?
Depending on what it was, the kick could make total sense.
However there is never any reason to keep going on at someone after you have kicked them.
There is no need for that other than if you’re just cruel.
No one is obligated to partake in your roleplaying charade. If you want to RP with other people in a dungeon, create your own group.
RP as a good DPS and they won’t kick you
I’m sorry this happened to you. As a Roleplayer, I learned that when I’m in an instance with players I don’t know, I keep my IC to myself.
Damn c.tenor site. It keeps coming up when I look for gifs and they don’t work here half the time.
If that’s all there was to it, people need to relax. It is an MMORPG. Your comment hurts no one.
OP never said anyone had to participate. They made a comment which could have been ignored.
No one should be harassing anyone like that over an RP comment.
Yep. Though I have seen others say something as RP and the group just ignored it.
That’s pugging. You can’t control everyone.
Getting kicked and insulted over that is awful, but instanced dungeons aren’t designated rp areas when you’re with lfg randoms either. Would definitely recommend keeping instanced chat free of rp tbh. /e is w/e. I know i get annoyed when theres rp in bg chat, obviously i don’t comment or give anyone a hard time over it but it’s not ideal
Report and move on. No matter how you may feel after this harassment, the community (as a whole) doesn’t mind roleplayers doing their thing.
I personally think some paladins have really cringe Avenging Wrath macros, but unless I pay their $15, I don’t care. Just adhere to the social contract and we gucchi .
Social Contract :: I won’t waste your time if you don’t waste my time.
not much into the role play aspect of the game myself but there is no reason for that.
I am sorry that happened.
i dont think players would put that much effort into a pug… OP’s story is sus. got the ss’s?
Got any proof?
That’s almost entirely off server trolls/tourists. Most rp to on moonguard goes nowhere near goldshire.
Maybe if roleplayers spent more time orbital striking gold shire and less time developing their backstory maybe people would respect you more.
I mean I’m trying to put my feet in both point sides of the medal here. First I do not know what server you roleplay on. I’ve played on Wyrmrest Accord and Emerald Dream for over a decade, I’ve never had to deal with situation, so it might be bad luck?
Now as your word choice, I ain’t sure. “I feel a weight off my shoulders.” Not to be rude, but it might sound like that you just told your party “you just got off” if they’re normies.
I say RP things all the time. I like to talk like Goodberry would. You can do this while playing normally. Usually people don’t even notice it, but you happen on the occasional jerk(s).
However, the very rare case when you find somebody who answers in character is a blast. Some of my best gaming recollections are impromptu RP sessions.
