The Way Forward: How Era should operate into the future

This sounds like a great Classic + or seasonal server. For Era this is way too many changes.

Search Results - World of Warcraft Forums (blizzard.com)

That does show the threads once, not each post in them to be fair. That’s just for this forum, you can search without specifying. Most of their posts are for Retail these days.

That person is just here to troll/be a jerk, and yes they are arrogant. The funniest thing I’ve seen them do is mute a thread because their ego couldn’t handle losing a debate that they claimed they’d “destroy others” in.

Anyway to switch back to what this thread is about I mostly agree with what Jarl suggested.

Thank you. I too mostly agree with Jarl’s suggestions.

Fresh servers (on a cycle) are fundamentally and technically never needed and as such, usually end up being a detriment to the overall community with enough time. Its a nice sugar rush but its just a bunch of empty carbs at the same time.

It may be a different story with Era, since fresh servers could be consolidated after say, two years and merged with existing clusters but its never that simple with Blizz and the players never, ever being satisfied no matter what.

Its been the same story since Day 1 - the best thing to do is nothing at all - the same probably applies to fresh realms. I do think there is a right way to do them but right is something we’ve never really concerned ourselves with so its probably better if we just left it alone.

I feel more confused after reading this. Are you telling me what Tinkertrain thinks, what you think, or are you one and the same?
No matter which option, my answer is the same:
Fresh or not is of no great consequence to me. I am a slow leveller with too little time for playing, hence I always lack behind
My sole concern is Era servers - at least 2, preferably more - for Classic, for TBC Classic and for Wrath Classic as well - with as few changes to any of these three as humanely possible. Apart from the changes needed to make HC servers for all three as well

There are arguments that can be made against fresh servers. I don’t know which one Tinker was referring too but I was giving one of the better cases from all the threads about it as it was often a source of contention.

Pot meet kettle. No changes like everyones always spouting.

Literally obliterated the schmucks you’re talking about, and they kept doing the head in the sand, fingers in the ears “nah nah nah cant hear you” because people on this forum have the worst cognitive dissonance of all time for some reason.

Not from what I saw. Your only real argument was pointing out popularity contests, and when that got shut down you muted the thread which is not the sign of someone who won any argument.

So it’s also funny that you point out cognitive dissonance. Projection is one of the key signs of a person with a toxic personality type.

Mostly it’s sad that you feel the need to come here to be nasty to people, but some people just need an outlet I guess and you aren’t the only one who does this sort of thing on this lower-traffic forum. There will always be trolls.

priorities

I would suggest a second account with a lvl 1 that has a creative name.

People couldnt handle the fact era is dying, and every version of the game has 10 times or more players than era has.

Worldwide era has 16k players. Probably more like 8k since most era players raid in 2-3 chars.

When presented with said information dudes talked in a circle, and I left because they couldnt grasp basic math. Seems like you cant either.

So what you “saw” is you needing to take a remedial reading course if you saw anything other than what I just said.

Edit: The info in black and white again ironforge.pro/population/era/

You’re the only one who keeps talking about popularity contests as if they are the be all and end all of importance for everything. Even when this is not part of the discussion and even more when people realize that enjoying this version of Classic is more of a niche and is not the most popular.

As someone who is not a follower type, and who enjoys thinking for myself, I’d FAR rather be surrounded by a smaller group of like-minded people doing something that I know I enjoy (and IMO a smaller group makes for a better community than a bigger one too)- than chase a crowd around. Especially the type of crowd who consumes and wants more all the time, and who is more playing WoW out of addiction and sunk cost fallacy than anything else.

Anyway, that’s my gripe with your comments here, that and the way you constantly put people down and, from what I’ve seen, never show any humility, kindness, or really any positive character traits. Plus it’s just weird when people such as yourself come here seemly just to be rude.

I don’t plan to reply to your “Classic General Discussion” trolling more. I’ll just flag it from now when appropriate - but wanted to call this all out once.

Too long didnt read.

You should care about the population. I refuse to call it popularity contests because thats not what it is. There is no contest. There is only the cold hard facts I presented.

People like you cant wrap your head around that for some reason. I can only assume its that ole cognitive dissonance I referenced earlier.

It’s always weird when people brag about their illiteracy, but I don’t even believe that you didn’t read it.

All of your replies are so rude that there’s got to be something going on, and I hope that those issues get better for you, and that you take it all out on the randoms on forums and not those in your real life.

You do realize that the Era value on ironforge pro is wildly outdated right?

Last time it was updated was in july:

  • Cata had 300k players (now 100k)
  • SoD had 30k players (now 85k)

Everyone playing Era knows that players have been pouring in since July.

I’m going to go with you’re suffering from the Dunning Kruger Effect.

AKA dim bulbs aren’t bright enough to know they are dim bulbs.

Weird. I play on Whitemane. Era is way more dead than it was a year ago.

A year ago was approaching the peak of all the tbc/wotlk folks and the bots that follow them coming back before they left for SoD.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Era is more popular now than it was last year.

Fun fact: You can simply use the exact same name you were just flagged for, and you’ll be fine until next you run into the issue.

Abusing the name report system, which is automated, is not the same as naming conventions being enforced.
