The Water Strider problem

TL;DR: Water Striders should be more unique-use and less all-terrain

Hi all,
I have re-worded this post for a bit more clarity.

Since obtaining this mount, why would I use any other mount in the game?
It runs 100% on land, and 100% on water.
All bodies of water are now flat land.

We have a number of different mounts for different purposes- vendor mounts, underwater mounts, flying mounts. To diversify the game a bit, it's fun to employ different mounts for different situations.

If there were a mount that had vendors, walked on water, swam fast, flew, and ran faster than any other mount, everyone would use it, and all other mounts would be void, am I right?
I bet you want to get one already. But we don't actually want that for the game.

Regarding the Water Strider, maybe we could have a compromise?
How about it moves at +80% speed on land instead of +100%
That way, the mount is useful for crossing bodies of water, but not the only mount you have bound on your actionbar, and not the only mount you use day-to-day.

This ties in to a number of issues Blizzard is grappling with in the game world. How to include flying without it removing all player interaction with the game world altogether. They've added Pathfinder as a compromise.

"But you're a shaman! You can just use Water Walking anyway!"
Correct! But this is part of the flavour of Warcraft-

If you are grouped with a Death Knight or Shaman friend, you get the benefit of a water walking spell.
If you are grouped with a Mage friend, you can use their portals for travel, and eat their food. Or with a Warlock you can use their summoning portal. etc.
We're talking about good (fun) game design, not making everything as easy as possible.

On a more serious note... Seriously? Why? It can walk on water, sure but soon as it gets into combat it loses that ability. It is not OP. It is a convenient little mount. It is a reward for people who took the time to grind out that rep.

Stop trying to ruin someone else's fun that literally has absolutely no effect on your gameplay just because you don't want to grind the rep and/or your jealousy.

I agree that they are overused and it kind of ruins immersion. People would gladly use any other mount I'm sure, if they could make it walk on water.
Why not a glyph of some kind that lets us teach water-walking to any mount?

I have no desire to nerf its capabilities.

I would like to see other mounts that can serve its purpose.

If you take damage, you can't water walk until you mount again. Seems fair to me.

Which part of my reply said nerf anything? I just think people would gladly buy a glyph to use other (flying) mounts to waterwalk?
Also, they have lore to make it work. Those bugs being everywhere.. not so much.

Show less than half. Almost but not quite there.

Also anyone who whines about that mount is the type of person who would find and cry about anything. There is nothing wrong with how things are. Anyone says otherwise is too lazy and jealous that people have something they don't. So they whine about it because they can't have fun like those who have it.

Also source. I find this false and the fact that a minority whines about it. They have the time to throw a tantrum when they could have used it to farm for that mount like everyone else who has it.

Once we unlock flying no one will care about watermounts being OP because we can fly over the water....

I would like to see more mounts gain that ability, so we had more to choose from if we have at least one of the mounts that has it already. For example, if you have the water strider, give players a buff like POF or WW that you can only activate out of combat. That way people still need to own the strider, but can use whatever mount they want.

I think right now there is only what 2 water walking mounts right now...both water striders. Would be cool if we got a wide variety that can walk on water.
