The Warlock Great Bug Report 2025 - PTR Edition

Making this Thread to report all bugs i am aware of on warlocks of World of Warcraft Retail, including new bugs found in it’s 11.1 PTR.

First, I will list the newer bugs and then re-list any bugs i am aware and may have reported in the past but have not been yet fixed.

1 - Destruction Warlock New Talents [ Demonfire Infusion] and [Dimensional Ripper] proc-chances are nowhere close to what tooltip description points.

  • Chance to Proc on Demonfire Infusion from Wither are 25%, might be possible that the chance to proc from Incinerate is also applying to the Wither ticks.
  • Chance to Proc on Demonfire Infusion with Immolate seems to be normal.
  • Chance to Proc from Dimensional Ripper is more like 2%, i am not sure of what is happening here.
  • Obs: By proc-chance i mean the representation of triggers per events (4 ticks = 1 proc) as the mechanism is probably some accumulator or similar system.

2 - Affliction Tierset [4] for 11.1 Does not work.

  • As stated, the proc for [4] currently is non functional, this happens because it’s attempting to spread the traditional Unstable Agony who have a target limit of 1 and not the new version created for 11.1 (who might still have this target limit?we can’t test this yet).
  • tierset seems to be missing periodic proc flags, meaning it can’t proc from ticks, this will harm affliction-proc chances given so much of its damage events are dots (things like Drain Soul, Soul Rot, Vile Taint, Agony, UA, Corruption won’t allow it to proc).
  • Tierset also have no periodic damage modifier effect in its [4] currently, maybe its a server-sided effect but might be why it don’t boost the damage of UA?

3 - Destruction Tierset currently can’t be tested on regular, non PVP target dummies.

  • The proc mechanism is tied to enemies who are currently in combat, and because most target dummies who aren’t PVP ones can’t be “in combat”, the proc for the tierset [2] just won’t happen.

4 - The Tierset proc who happens from Infernal will fire more than 12(14) bolts.

  • Currently, the version of the [2] proc who happens from Infernal will scale with haste, allowing a single Infernal to shoot up to 30 demonfire bolts instead of the intended 12 (without talent) or 14 (with talent).

5 - Demonology Greater Dreadstalkers sometimes won’t jump to the target when it proc, i am not sure if this happens to specific spells who don’t have targets (Vilefiend, Tyrant) or can happen in any and its just a pathing issue.

6 - Greater Dreadstalker is not affected by the Houndmasters Gambit dreadstalker buff.


Old Bug 1 - Among the Demonic Tyrant effects there is a 100% resource cost reduction who is meant to affect 10/15 Wild Imps upon the cast of Demonic Tyrant, but, due to changes made during 10.2 this have in the past affected Primary Pet Felguard as well.

Currently, this issue seems to be affecting the Grimoire Felguard as well, allowing him to constantly spam Legion Strike while Tyrant is active.

Obs: in case this bug is hotfixed, it will represent a substantial nerf to Grimoire Felguard.

Old Bug 2 - Under certain(Resummoning the pet) circunstances you can have the Class Talent Demonic Inspiration double-dip, allowing your primary pet to benefit from 10% haste increase instead of 5% haste increase.

Old Bug 3 - Channel Demonfire Sometimes is not avaliable to cast even if you have Immolate/Wither Active still a thing, very likely to happen all over the place on 11.1 due to the tierset extending immolates.

Old Bug 4 - As hellcaller, when you cast Havoc any spell you cast will apply/refresh Wither on the target, its very weird behavior.

This is a workaround done in beta because back then Wither didn’t get replicated by Havoc.

Old Bug 5 - Infernal bolt does not get replicated by havoc, this is an issue who have been a thing since TWW beta.

Old Bug 6 - the damage reduction effect of Havoc will still be active for certain spells (infernal bolt, shadowburn, ruination) even if you swap targets with it.

Chances are the way this spells got coded is making them look as if they werent casted directly on the target similar to how copies do making them only deal the 60% damage dealt from havoc instead of a 100% effect like it should when casted directly.

Old Bug 7 - Refreshing/applying wither a second time before it gains any stack don’t count for pandemic.

Old Bug 8 - When you refresh wither you restart the “tick clock”, meaning every time you refresh Wither during the fight, you can potentially lose 1 tick of damage.

Old Bug 9 - [Warlock][Diabolist] Infernal Machine won't always reduce the duration of Diabolic Ritual still exists on 11.1 PTR

This issues seems to happen because the shard spenders of Demo aren’t direct damage but instead triggers for additional effects who are the damage dealing (summon vilefiend, summon dreadstalkers, create a projectile who will trigger the damage effect of hog).

Old Bug 10 - the behavior of Shared Fate (Soul Harvester talent) is quite different from the tooltip behavior describes, instead of applying the effect on 1 target who deals damage to all in 8 yards, it apply single target effects on all targets in 8 yard.

Old Bug 11 - Grimoire Felguard currently is not benefiting of the pet avoidance meaning AOE effects in raid can oneshot him mid duration.

Old Bug 12 - Wither triggers Nightfall at a higher rate than Corruption with multiple targets, this means Nightfall does not have the Target Diminishin return associated with Wither, only to corruption, this means this talent have a higher proc-chance at aoe for Hellcaller Affliction than intended.

Old Bug 13 - Perpetual Unstability and Improved Malefic Rapture reduce the cast time of those spells to bellow the GCD, but does not adjust the GCD to allow any form of cast per minute benefit.


This is it for now, for the duration of PTR i might update this thread with new bugs i find or older ones who i previously believed fixed but might not be/returned.

There is also a bug where Destruction Warlock’s Diabolist Hero Talent “Ruination” does not receive the same modifiers in PvP as Chaos Bolt does ever since it has been buffed. Ruination hits for a fraction of Chaos Bolt despite the fact that Ruination is supposed to be a more powerful spell.

Ruination is not Chaos Bolt just like it’s not Hand of Guldan, so it don’t necessarily mean it will inherit damage modifiers of the spell it replaces.

It don’t get buffed by Crashing Chaos because, as its not chaos bolt its not in the Whitelist of effect nº1 https://www.wowhead.com/spell=417282/crashing-chaos

Same way, you can’t proc Double Ruination from Pact of Imp Mother or have it buffed by Pact of Rancora.

Ruination is a spell who for the cast replaces Chaos Bolt.

Now, there is the issue that Ruination, like all Hero Powers have a 0.5~ damage modifier in pve, while Chaos Bolt have a 2.34.

Now, we can argue that Ruination shouldn’t have a 0.5 modifier in PVE, but i would also be very carefull with the idea that it needs the chaos bolt 2.34.

given that Chaos bolt is only a 576% spellpower(further buffed in pvp to 1347% spellpower), while Ruination already starts at a 1127.96% of Spell power…and if you buffed it to 2.34x it would go to 2.6k spellpower.

I’m baffled by your response but I think you understood my point with your last sentence. Ruination is bugged to not inherit more powerful PvP modifiers similar to Chaos Bolt. Ruination should be hitting harder than Chaos Bolt but Blizzard has neglected to be mindful of Ruination when buffing Chaos Bolt’s damage. We’re saying the same thing.

It’s important to be clear when reporting what the bug is about.

BUG - Demonology 11.1 Tier-set Greater Dreadstalker have a slight delay to cast his dash ability when he needs to move from target 1 to target 2.

This shouldn’t be a big issue as its only an additional 1s~ between moving, but can be annoying if you start to think 1s is quite a big % of the duration of the dreadstalkers.

I am not sure what is the issue, maybe its range, maybe its script?


Additionally an update towards the Demonfire Infusion bug who i have edited on the first post.

Demonfire infusion have a normal 4% proc chance on Immolate, but the bugged 25% proc chance on wither.


Affliction Tierset [4] Bonus effect who is meant to increase the periodic damage of unstable affliction by 50% currently does not work.

This happens because the flag used is meant for Direct Damage and not Periodic Damage.


Destruction Warlock [2] tierset bonus have a Infernal guaranteed proc effect currently triggers the jackpot! effect twice, once upon cast, and yet another time upon Infernal Awakening.

This means, post-nerfs it triggers 2 waves of 6 bolts.

It brilliant, there are more and all reported since beta… and they do nothing about the pet pathing line of sight animation resetting bugs that have plagued the entire Diabolist build. Its why People cheat, so many unadressed bugs, so many exploits, why even try to help the devs or the game makers. They are just going to continue to put META classes first in everything, AWC PVP classes first in everything and if you play one of the non meta, non awc classes, you may as well play another game.
