World of Warcraft : War Crimes, by Christie Golden

Exhibit A, Path of Glory.

Last I heard there was about 7 million subs for this game. Now just for funziesā€¦ If every sub has at least 1 character and that character has killedā€¦ oh lets say roughly 50,000 living beings over their entire careerā€¦ Thatā€™s aboutā€¦ 350 billion deathsā€¦? Which is roughly 43.7 times the population of Earth. So veeeery conservative napkin math says we have at least murdered the world 43 times already. But in reality itā€™s waaaay higher than that if you consider alts and whateverā€¦

Damn! I would think there should be way more Forsaken and DKā€™s just roaming around Azeroth.

Its genuinely one of the reasons I wanna break a keyboard. Fair enough, the Orcs didnā€™t have any control over what their parents did on Draenor, but for a people whose culture revolved a fair bit around respecting and honoring your Ancestors, that also means you carry their burdens and expectations. And fair enough, after Garrosh, the Horde should have been dynamite on any potential future nonsense since anyone who stood there going ā€œOrcs is best, zugg zugg the restā€ either died in the Siege of Orgrimmar or is eking out a miserable existence on the boundaries between Horde and Alliance territories in Kalimdor.

That was the Hail Mary Moment for the Horde and should have been treated as such.

But no, Blizzard wrote the Horde to be down for the slaughter and gave the players no way to oppose the decision other than quit the game or re-roll/pay for a faction transfer. Thereā€™s a lot of things I want to bounce Blizzardā€™s head off a wall for, but repeating one of the most divisive story arcs after giving a ā€œWe will end you next timeā€ warning, was arguably their biggest story flops, surpassed only by the nonsense that was the Shadowlands.

I feel like, at this point, the best justice weā€™re going to get is someone blasting Thrall with a spray bottle like heā€™s a cat or something.

All of humanity.

Honestly it would amuse me to no end if we do get the Alliance having itā€™s war of vegeance, but the moment before it begins you see the Alliance just send letters to Zandalar, Thunderbluff and Silvermoon saying ā€˜Ok, hand over these idiots.ā€™ and then largely ignoring those 3 nations and just absolutely flying elbow dropping orgrimmar and Lordaeron on a national level since the overwhelming majority of crimes committed by the Horde have been committed by Orcs and Forsaken.

Also, conclude the storyline with Humans going off the rails and needing their leadership to be put down like a rabid dog it is by the rest of the Alliance, because there is a Hugh Jackman rant from a new movie that can easily summarize the Out of Story relationship everyone not Humans, Orcs and Forsaken have with Humans, Orcs and Forsaken.

Garrosh getting his moment of zen: ā€œYou Made Me What I Am!ā€

A beat. A Pause.

ā€œNo.ā€

A rancid, wet fart rips through the room as Garrosh gets gibbed by a character literally incapable of introspection. Also trapped in Super Hell but wait, I donā€™t like this weapon. Let me find a new one.

I mean, Iā€™ll body Thrall for his stupid decisions as much as the next Forumite, but Garrosh was given all the same advisors that Thrall was, it was his choice to go ā€œOrcs superior, yā€™all inferior!ā€, and his choice to surround himself with Yes-Men and the worst of Orcish society.

Thrallā€™s Orc Weebery and his blindness to the flaws of his friends, and the lingering social and spiritual darkness that still affected his people, unlocked that door. But Garrosh was the one who walked through it, and didnā€™t just stand up and tell Thrall ā€œNo, I have already told you I donā€™t want this, do not command me to do so.ā€

Thrall did not make Garrosh what he was, but he did give Garrosh all the tools necessary to become a monster in the first place out of misplaced trust and ideological blindness, especially considering how Grom acted the moment Thrall was no present, and how Garrosh refused to accept any of the lessons Thrall had been pushing on the Horde to undo the damage the Shadow Council and the Original/Dark Horde did to them as a people and a society.

I feel like Blizzard hasnā€™t ever been sure of how much to involve Thrall after Cataclysm. Oddly, Shadowlands might be the best since Thrallā€™s involvement was limited and he spent most of it getting tortured.

I for one liked the cinematic of Thrall and the yucky wheat. As an outland enthusiast it was nice to get some bonus lore about bad taste grain
