Now that all of the mage hero tree talents are revealed I think it is safe to say we can clearly see where ALL the love went into. For some points of reference:
Hey druids what did you get? “We got the ability to summon some silly trees, scratch our enemies REALLY hard and cover them in thorns OR lose any benefit to casting wrath at all!”
Warriors what did you get? “We got the ability to grow 5% larger or feel what its like to be an enhancement shaman with titans grip!”
Paladins what did you get? “We got the ability to permanently blind ANYONE within melee range when we pop wings!”
Hunters what did you get? “We got the ability to summon ONE additional pet that doesn’t even last that long or throw more wildfire bombs!”
Hey monks what did you get? “We got the ability to maintain a 4 second long channel that doesn’t hit every target in a 2 mob sized pull!”
And then we ask “Hey mages what did you get?” Mages: We got the ability to summon a phoenix that spits greater pyro blasts at mobs and drop giant clusters of meteors while also being able to cast pyro blast and flame strike with no cast time and cover our enemies with splinters that explode for magic damage!"
Not saying that mages need to be toned back a bit…i’m lying mage hero talents DO need to be toned back a tiny tiny bit, but we can also blatantly see where the love and resources went to for war within
First off this isn’t a discussion about class balance its a discussion about how they over loaded with crazy over the top nonsense. Secondly you are playing a hunter, likely a BM hunter, you press 3 buttons, 2 of them are multi shot and kill command and out DPS me on about 8/10 M+ pulls.
ST we got some love where we needed to be and ret is sitting at a good spot but the “xpac after xpac” is a bit disingenuous we weren’t good in SL, we weren’t good in this xpac till 10.0.7, we weren’t good in BfA, were ok in legion and all of this is centered around our current state that we had to fight against people like yourself to be in…relax, you’re doing fine as a hunter
Edit: Actually coming THIS VERY TUESDAY when S4 drops paladins aren’t going to be a blip on the radar, the two blips are going to be Devastation Evoker and Fury warrior which will absolutely put ANY class that challenges them into the ground
Druid of the Claw looks really cool; possible cat weaving for Guardian? Bear weaving for Feral? Sounds like it really is playing into the shapeshifting fantasy of Druid.
Infinite Bladestorms; nothing is better.
I like how you didn’t mention Death Knights summoning in the Four Horsemen because that would ruin your pathetic narrative.
WHat is my narrative exactly? That mages got a BIT too much love with all of the crazy stuff they will be able to put out come war within in ALL of their hero talent trees? Doesn’t sound that crazy to me but let me pick your reply apart.
Cat/bear weaving, more buttons druids now have to press and nothing really spectacular to stand out from other than swapping druid forms to MAYBE doing a slightly bigger hit than normal
Warriors with infinite blade storm isn’t really as good as you think it sounds and as far as visually appealing you looking like the tazmanian devil isn’t all that fantastic but hey it is their best looking ability.
What you attempted to do was assign malice when there isn’t any, the point of everything was to highlight that mages got A TON of love with the hero talents and a lot of the talent trees nodes feel like place holders.
I could have mentioned rogue which I didn’t, shaman which I didn’t, DH which I didn’t because I didn’t divest too much into these classes to know what i’m talking about but even bringing up Rider of the Apocalypse doesn’t really compete with mage either. Sure you get a dude on a horse but mage gets an arcane phoenix that casts greater pyro blasts along with giving you ZERO cast time while you drop meteors on them.
A for effort on the attempt at cynicism but shoo illidan player, back to your cess pool
its pointless to discuss things like this
these melee players do not think, or imagine, or know, that wow is a melee heaven: there is never any kiting that they can’t immediately circumvent by pressing yet another one of their gap closers
they just assume that they’re supposed to have close to 100% uptime on their attacks because that’s what they’re accustomed to
every second spent trying to explain something to them is wasted, like talking to someone with alzheimers
just be thankful the devs understand the extreme disadvantages and quirks of the mage, and give us a similar amount of defensives and damage uptime
“Oh no the boss mrchanic that one shots you is 40 yards away! Melee have to avoid this too or thry die! Good thing I have- nope both my movement abilities are on CD and my drfensives wont let me survive this! Where is our ranged?”
Cut to the ranged already behind the pillar and only have to take two steps to the left or right to get behind the safety pillar.
I think also youre missing the point to try to have a pseudo intellectual flaming of melee vs ranged, there are points and counter points to both but this isnt what my thread is about.
Mages got an INSANE amount of love going into war within and while I say good for them the other classes need the same treatment, I am happy with templar paladin and diabolist warlock cause they sound really fun but can you find me ONE her talent tree that lets you A) Summon a minion B) have said minion empower you by making your hardest hitting abilities have no cast time and C) cast abilities like greater pyro blast which is basically a pvp talent? Find me one
Edit: One small note, with mages getting the ability to summon aphoenix that shoots greater pyro blasts at things, while removing the cast time for your hardest hitting ST and AoE abilities while you rain meteors down and get 100% increased critical strike chance the ONLY one for one equivalent would be if for Ret paladin Templar (using paladin as a place holder here since its my main class) “When empyrean hammer is cast for 20 seconds summon guardian of ancient kings which buffs your holy damage by 100% as well as casts execution sentence and final reckoning while allowing you to cast final verdict and divine storm as if they were at max holy power” and people would go absolutely bonkers over that too
if we are talking about the fun meta, i think that while mage is amazing… i also think shadow priest and warlock are god tiers as well.
I think warlock diabolist if by far the most badass one, if that ritual does not have a cooldown you will be summoning the 3 random epic demons all the time, and each one does something cool.
a pit lord and allows later to bring down a god damn meteor that does good dmg and summons more demons? the mother gives you infernal bolt… you also summon nathrezim, get 30% healing with your big defensive, and curse of sathyr is also great.
I agree I think diabolist is really cool which is befitting what demonology warlocks SHOULD be, a master summoner of demons. BUT and this is crucial in that they just make your natural abilities outside the meteor more beneficial to cast. Where as mage gives you benefits layered upon benefits layered upon benefits. Id say diabolist is strong and fun but not “oh my god” busted like mage will be especially when youre gonna have S1 raid teams stacking Sunfury fire mages machine gunning bosses to death with pyro blast
Considering Paladins are getting ANOTHER rework to their specs and mages are sitting with a half rework they received in DF which didn’t really make anything a whole lot better, WHO’S the dev’s favorite?
