The War Within Hotfixes - October 16

Not exactly. Its because of how scaling of the mobs HP and damage based on your level increases as you level. A lvl70s target mob will have less HP compared to your level than a lvl80 mob. Basically as a % of the mobs HP, you hit for less as you increase in level because their HP scales faster.

Frenzied Regeneration is incorrectly nerfed in PvP combat for Feral to 20% instead of the intended 32%, can this please be reverted if it wasn’t intentional? It really hamstrings the Druid of the Claw hero tree for Feral in PvP.

Why shouldn’t PVP druids suffer like us doing PVE?

I am now campaigning to Free Otto! for each & every hotfix. This lovable mount is locked behind a bugged quest that was recently reported as of 11.0.2. He is a mount only achieved by doing the toughest, time consuming task of fishing for bronze, silver, & gold coins to once again fish more for some 126 fish in DF. Otto never deserved this & he needs you! Free Otto Blizz!

They have, for 2 years now.

Still not true. Nothing’s off about scaling here. People just forget that there’s a ‘gear reset’ every expansion and act surprised when their character goes from being geared 3 or 4 raid tiers deep at the previous level cap to being pre-raid geared at the new level cap.

Seriously, go into TWW at around 400 ilvl. You won’t be one-tapping stuff at level 70, I can assure you.

That’s good to know

No the hell you didn’t! As soon as he catches me, he despawns. Consistently, every time!

…do you not understand how scaling works?
With what you said someone that is ilvl515 at level 70 should be hitting for less than someone that is ilvl577 at lvl80s.
They don’t in fact they hit many times harder than the lvl80s, this is because of the scaling. A mobs HP scale more per level than your damage does. This basically means as you level you get weaker, and your attacks do less damage as a percent of the mobs HP.

It seems that Blizzard agrees as well, heres their new post:

As players have jumped into The War Within and begun leveling up, we’ve seen data and heard a great deal of feedback that players coming into Khaz Algar with endgame Dragonflight gear were extremely powerful relative to that initial content. It is entirely intended that effort put into gearing translates into a significant combat advantage at the start of a new expansion, but the values we’ve been seeing are extreme, often not even allowing time for normal combat rotations. This disparity also caused mixed-level groups to experience skewed results, with lower-level players contributing drastically more than level 80s. Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 28, we’re going to apply hotfixes to the game to address this.

The hotfixes will adjust the scaling of enemies in War Within leveling content to increase the power of lower-level enemies, bringing the duration of combat more in line with expected WoW behavior. These changes will be most noticeable at level 70, and will have a reduced impact as your level increases. Enemies at level 80 and above will be unchanged.

Again, we’ll make these changes tomorrow, August 28.

Thank you!

Oh no people who spent time gearing their character can still kill mobs how they would of in DF… imagine running DF normals in maxed gear I’m sure they drop like flies too…

and the fun is gone…

It didn’t need nerfs. I hope one day that gear in PvP is interesting again and we can use PvE items. PvP gear is so boring.

Er…no, that’s actually the exact opposite of what happens. It sounds like you’re the one who doesn’t understand how character growth works. A 515 level 70 is objectively more powerful than a 577 level 80. If it wasn’t for hit chance, health pool, and actual level requirements, some specs might actually be better even in level 80 content. Why? Secondary stats.

Regarding the announcement of adjustments, that’s merely because they determined that they gave level 70s too much power in S4. This is most likely a temporary adjustment until the majority of DF players have leveled through TWW, and will be toned back down once the average level 70 entering Khaz Algar is wearing quest greens instead of overpowered epics.

I’m aware of that, but it’s also completely unintended, hence the hotfixes coming now. I didn’t forget my strength, I just leveled like a normal player and didn’t abuse a system. They’re now fixing that abused system so players can do level 80 content at level 70 and one shotting entire areas for free and easy currency

this is a good change.

No they did not.
Guess I should just stay away from the game for a while because it’s bad enough that it lasted through the PTR, but they don’t even know it’s still a bug so they’re just claiming it isn’t.
Any L2 testing would find that this wasn’t fixed.

What about Vengeance DH not being able to use sigil of flame while in Meta if they have Fel-Scarred hero talents?

Did we fix the Earthern dude in the ringing deeps city who we can’t hand stuff into because he’s locked to some activity we can’t even do? Can’t remember his name, but left of the main stairs just across from the rep vendor.

Yes, Awaken The Machine is now available, so you can talk to him and do the activity. The quest itself is tied to the Kobold in the wax thing.
