The War Within Early Access is a Mistake

I am not sure why you think a MMO with such a large economy that giving folks 3 days early access if you pay $60 more is a fair thing to do.

I’ve read that Blizzard isn’t concerned with it in the long run, like okay cool that’s not the point. In 3 days you can hit level cap and then spend the other 2 1/2 days grinding out mat’s to sell or level professions and gain a clear economic advantage.

Shadowlands alone I had made over 20mil in the AH buying/selling/crafting in a short period of time.

I think this tactic of offering 3+ days early access to FOMO players is not good for the players. This game has a living breathing economy. Most other games that offer this 3days early access don’t have the economy like WoW does. it seems like a really bad idea to the point I don’t think I am going to bother with this next expansion.

After 20 years of playing WoW I think it’s time to say GG. I am really disappointed with this. The first few days/weeks of a WoW launch are unlike any game I’ve played and is one of the biggest reason’s i come back.

Even the idea of wanting to ply with friends/guild. if you get it early and they done. your gonna be max level before they even log in? How much fun is that going to be?

I wish Companies would think about whats best for the game/player’s vs what’s going to get me an extra few $$ from folks. You know a large majority of your player base is much older now, we may have more disposable income now but thats also because we don’t waste our money on bad investments. This is one of those times

I feel a bit sad as Dragonflight (I pvp’d a good bit this expansion, tried professions and hated the new system) but over all the PvP side is a mess. to clunky, to many addon’s req’d just to understand whats going on at higher ratings.

I truly hope this “feature” of the epic edition goes away and you give them something else. Either way it’s been a fun Ride. Had to end sooner or later.

EDIT: I sure wish my helldivers would come out of the woodworks and make a change happen. I love how the community was able to force change so quickly when big brother over reaches

What I’m curious to know is if the early access will be on Friday/Saturday, because historically expansion launches are Monday or Tuesday.

Or if the “early access” is Monday/Tuesday and the rest of us have to wait until Thursday/Friday. Which actually means you’re not paying $90.00 for early access, you’re paying that premium for what would otherwise have been the normal day, and those who don’t pay are being held back.

Sorry. To rephrase that. Those who don’t pay even more.

Still going to be a crowd either way.

Yeah I imagine many people don’t care about this but got to draw a line somewhere.

I don’t think its great for the game, but I also agree it wont matter much in the long run for the overall health of the game. Just some early farmers wont make millions of gold, as you said.

Just because I don’t like bad info,

isn’t accurate. It’s $40 more, and for anyone who pays for their sub with cash its really only $25 more. (Or you get a tokens worth of gold if you sub with gold)

I can understand your decision though, especially if you already weren’t really feelin it with DF. Good luck out there, sadly many MMOs are monetized even worse than wow.

Most of us don’t. If you care so much about the stuff you listed then you should get the early access

I’m not sure why a warrior doing more dps than a hunter is a fair thing to do.

It’s just a game dude. If you have the skills to make 20M in an expansion, 3 days won’t be that big a difference, you’ll be fine. The money goes to support and develop the game we all play, isn’t that a good thing? Shouldn’t you do the same and eliminate the advantage? But in the end, does it really matter? Because you know… it’s just a game.

Y’all know everything is broken the first few days, right?

We’re not getting early access, we’re signing up to be live beta testers lol

If Blizzard really cared about fairness in the economy, they’d ban auction house botting.

That’s a way bigger deal than 3 days of early access.

Facts. I couldn’t even play the ff14 expansion at launch because it was so bad. Expansion launches are so unpredictable but WoW usually has good ones. Although in DF we did have the boat incident

I used to take 2 weeks off when a new expansion came out.

Over time, as they’ve switched to the season model, there’s been less and less to do those first 2 weeks. I just ended up playing other games instead during that time.

So I don’t even bother anymore.

It’s 3 days extra of leveling.

No professions, no seasonal stuff, nothing else. 3 days that’ll average out before the first raid and first season begins anyways.

Sorry, but all the QQ over early access is overblown.

Probably, which has a lot of people I know excited, because normally when an expansion comes out they can’t even log on to level until the following weekend.

Early access lets them play on the weekend along with other early access players and not be behind, so they’re looking forward to this.

Early access is what 3 days?

Let them enjoy the bugs and chaos. Appreciate them testing things for me so I can enjoy less of that.

I just hope whoever has to work that weekend in the Blizzard office is at least given coffee better than Folgers.

That’s because barely anyone played…

It’s actually only $40 more. The base game is 50, the epic edition is 90.

And I say this as someone who did buy the epic edition.

I do think that this sort of advantage set’s a bad precedent. And before I get all those that ask “what advantage” I’ve already had that argument enough times, and I still think it’s terrible blizzard is doing it.

Still here are my main reasons
Those who pay more will have first dibs on any possible exploits(like the recent frog farm from mists), they will also have an advantage on the profession front. And just the gearing front. When everyone has heroic gear because they were bored during those three days than those that pug will be at a disadvantage gearing wise. And finally those that get those three days will just get to play through the story faster, than those that don’t. We all pay a sub, and we should all have fair access to the game.

If this was not a subbed too game, I may feel less strongly about this. But it’s worse because we all pay for the content monthly.

I’m quite sure with all the belly-aching that they’ll disable professions in early access. So thanks everyone for making it even more meaningless.

Can’t gear until the first full week.
