What, precisely, are we going to abbreviate the title “The War Within” as in our common channels? Trade Chat on Illidan was torn on either of the following:
“TWW” for a direct reference to “The War Within”
-OR-
“War With-In” as in WWI?
Please, let us chat about this as a community and develop a common verbiage. My first instinct personally was “WWI”— which created some odd historical tangential awkwardness, but at the same time, I rather like it. This IS World of Warcraft, after all.
It’s not “War With-In” though. So that’s just silly. Yeah we could come up with all sorts of wacky abbreviations if we first change the name we’re abbreviating.
Within is one word though, so using the i in an acronym doesn’t work. TWW is much more correct if you go that route.
Personally I’d prefer to just call it War. It wouldn’t be the first time we simply used the first word as an abbreviation. We did it for Wrath and to a lesser degree Warlords. Though WoD probably got used more because it’s a word that you can actually say where WotLK and TWW aren’t.
To be fair, they’ll probably sell more copies of the expansion than there are active Windwalker Monks, so we could call it WW. Personally prefer TWW though.
TWW and WW are fine. Some people might go “but what about WW monks?” but we’ve survived having “Prot,” “Holy” and “Resto” refer to two specs for 20 years, which is a much smaller gap to deal with than a spec and an expansion (and that’s assuming there’s any context where people would be confused about the use of either WW outside of doing a bit).
