I don’t know how you guys feel but I’m tired of hearing the same woman for almost everything? You know her most likely as “Johanna” from Heroes of the Storm or Diablo 3. She does not only speak most of the female Orcs, she’s also one of the Primus, she also speaks most of the female Tauren and now Emberthal.
Is it just me or can’t the developers afford more voice actors? It’s bad enough that our characters only have one voice option but hearing her every single time in every expansion has become really old by now.
They can always get new voice actors and fresh talents to foster them. It doesn’t feel “worldly” if Mrs. Johanna speaks every woman npc this game has to offer.
If she can change her voice range, that means she’s a skilled VA.
Blizzard always had the same VA’s to save costs and because they’re soo good.
But it becomes a problem when different characters have basically the same voice.
David Lodge, Michael McConnohie, and Jim Cummings voice a lot of characters without altering their voices. Kel’thuzard and Uther sound very identical and are polar opposite characters. The same thing with Lodge, every character he voices has the same voice but a different personality. Jim Cummings characters all sound the same too.
I think it’s nice to have VA’s that can change their tone or vocalizations.
Jim Cummings has a big range, what the Johanna-actress has not. It’s basically the same voice in different emotions. A Cummings can do at least five very different Disney characters (Darkwing Duck, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Scar, Pete, …) but she simply has not the range for this.
