The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

Wow, this thread is LONG. I don’t have the time to go back and figure out all that has gone on in this discussion, but I am glad to see that there is still a good number of people campaigning for and coming up with good ideas for playable High Elves.

Would be cool.

It would be nice to see Blizzard make more sprawling structures for a change.

Just to repeat myself, but it seems necessary from time to time:

I can accept many different scenarios and conditions for high elves joining. I don’t care if their capital is Dalaran, an elven district in Stormwind, Quel’danil (my favorite, but not required, option) or a new place.

I also don’t care if something happens to them and they are slightly changed.

As long as they are still a natural path for the quel’dorei, honoring their history and their past choices and not deviating too far from their established lore and looks, I’m game.

Void elves failed because they have nothing in common with high elves except sharing the blood elf model as a base. Their origin is as apart from high elves as possible, their choice in magic is something the high elves (as a people) would not tolerate and their appearance is the direct of their unhealthy choices.

Void elves could have worked if their origins and appearance were slightly adjusted. I’d be way more interested in them if a group of high elves, some known characters among them, had escorted Alleria in her search for Umbric and ended up transformed against their will, making a separate void elf group that is more careful than Umbric’s regarding the void. Plus, they should have had some quasi-normal customization options that still look tainted, but still resemble their origins.

But it’s too late for that. Blizzard failed to make a good compromise in void elves, so now I want real high elves.

Yeah. One of the issues is that Blizzard has backed themselves into a corner, mostly with Ion’s gaffe.

At this point I’ve got a pretty narrow threshold for what I’d accept for Quel’dorei.

I mean, I’d have settled for a Two-Form’s like flavor racial. What we see now is the, ‘Void Form,’ and by turning it off you look like a High Elf. That and the idea that Void Elves were High Elves transformed by the Void by a terrible accident and trained by Alleria to withstand the Whispers and Master it for survival, would have made them infinitely more appealing.

They’d still lack Paladins, though, and it’d be much more difficult to see them having Druids/Shamans, which is a pity. I’m fairly happy to consider High Elves as the Thalassian Nature-Elves at this point, holding onto their arcane/light heritage.

Hey Talendrion.

Are you going to do the High Elf Tattoo Customization Options next or next reveals of Wildhammer Dwarves, Forest Trolls, Ogres, and San’layn Concept Art?

Uhh, i feel so disappointed when people negatively uses Lotr to insult us, are these people so petty nowadays that they have to hate on Tolkien just so they can provoke us?

And they are playing Orcs when doing it…

I have to say while I am in full support of High Elves for the Alliance, it is very unlikely that Blizzard will add them now that Void Elves have been added.

The likelyhood of another recolour of Blood Elves being added to the game is unlikely, and they most likely saw the Void Elves as a better option than High Elves when they were considering adding them.

I disagree, but Blizzard rarely ever changes their mind, and there is so much overlap with Void Elves that it’s just not likely to happen anytime soon.

I understand your feelings, but I think it’s pointlesst to keep arguing with people in other threads, because they’re fully against the idea, no matter how many solutions you try to show them, they’ll refuse every bit of it. Because they’re against any kind of fair skinned elf on Alliance side, no matter if it’s a High Elf, Snow Elf, Storm Elf, Wood Elf, Highborne. How can you argue with such people?

I don’t waste my time in other threads anymore because of this. They’re not trying to find a middleground or agreement for both sides about this matter, they’re just selfish people who only want our community to disappear.

The only thing they have in common at this point is a skeleton.

The skeleton, model, and animations are the same. The only things they don’t have in common are the blueberry skin and tentacle hair (no offence).

In the future, once all core races have allied race counterparts, I can see them looking at High Elves again if they still want to make allied races. It would surprise me if they’re released before then, but good luck.

Edit: I want to reiterate that I 100% agree that High Elves should have been/be added, but I’m trying to be realistic with how Blizzard sees things.

A race is more than its appearance. It is its fantasy, themes, history, lore. And in that they diverge plenty.

I don’t think it was ever officially stated that each race would have an allied counterpart (and Vulpera certainly wouldn’t fit that bill for Goblins, would they?). And they clearly didn’t intend to use each model/skeleton once (Zandalari and Nightborne both using Night Elf skeleton, and KT using something almost-brand-new)

I didn’t waste my time in the other thread, i once in a while go there to give a like to a constructive comment or another in support of us, but reading through it is just terrible.

They have actually said that Allied Races don’t need a parent race.

It’s just worked out that way so far.

Does anyone have a clip of that interview?

We have got to build a wiki thread. Haha. So much of our cited articles and videos get buried in thousands of posts.

Someone can just make a wiki post and everyone can bookmark it.

We need to get people together on it though.

I can make wiki post but I don’t know if you need to be trust level 3 to edit them.

Remember, there was a Google Doc that the anti people vandalized.

Maybe we should ask the CMs. Put in a ticket about it. It would probably be a very good idea to make a wiki post on this topic because many people don’t seem to know the subject. It would make it to where we can easily redirect people to it for answers.

I don’t think we can set special access to things.

It could just be a post of links with quotes that’s been categorized that we then have quoted in the OP and everyone bookmarks it.

Any suggestion on categories and setups?

Probably a list of the various Quel’dorei groups - Silver Covenant, Allerian Hold, Quel’danil…

The quote from Ion (the whole quote) the quote from (Alex?) About void elf High elf customization…

I had quoted those resources that talk about Sin’dorei existing for pretty races. I’ll have to try to hunt down those articles/podcasts again.
