The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

Hilariously, I’ve been Alliance for years. I swapped to Horde literally last week. From a void elf, actually. I’m just not biased and enjoy Thalassian lore, so I went to where it is.

It wasn’t directed at you.

I’m sure it wasn’t.

didnt say i dont care about their skin. i like fair to tanned/black but not blue or purple, elves. my void elf is okay but shes more drow like. i know she doesnt fit drow precisely but the …well she looks like she forgot to breathe air. she’s blue . i already have a blue elf (night elf and a blue draenei ). i just want a normal elf. ya know like a belf but different hair styles. maybe different idle animation (love belf casting animations, both the males and the females, and the female run is perfection). have you seen talendrion’s half elf models? my gosh some of them are gorgeous.

I can understand that want and to be honest, I wouldn’t be against Blizzard simply adding a more golden skin tone choice for void elves since we have foundation via Alleria that it’s possible to turn the void appearance off. The whole bit about her being the only one with the ability to do that seems a bit silly to me.

I’ve seen the hair models, they’re lovely! I’d really like more hair to choose from, on that topic.

Hi, wanted to slip this into here for you folks:

Have fun!

This is probably going to be their most interesting Q/A in a long while. Either catching up on, explaining more, or clarifying details of lore.

I’m enjoying a lot of Nerevar’s questions, thank you for the link!

Because the high elf story for the last decade and a half has been all about (a) rejecting dark magic and (b) rejecting the blood elves and the Horde, and the best “compromise” people can think of is (a) merging them with the void elves or (b) merging them with the blood elves?

In essence, ignoring their established story just to forcibly shut up discussion and piss off people who have been asking for them all this time?

The suggestions sure are aimed at precisely that. And that’s why Blizzard shouldn’t do it.

You can have blue eyes in blood elves after Alliance can have high elves. One does not prevent the other.

Thanks for that. I left my questions there.

Not saying they can’t, just that they currently don’t. That’s the point, so far, the Sunwell has no impact in Blood Elves having Blue Eyes. It only affects them by giving them Golden Eyes.

I must have missed them. All I can think of are some Silver Hand Paladins, and since they are neutral, so we fall into “Are they blood elves with blue eyes or are they High Elves with Blood Elven voice” argument.

I see no reason for blood elf players to be unhappy about the alliance getting high elves. Unless you are a petty individual that hates what others get out of spite of course.

Just give them all purple eyes and say the cannon reason is from feeding off of magical objects. Give white eyes for those that learned to do without. Done.

Though I still say the Blue Eyes for Blood Elves thing makes no darn sense given their established lore and story. (The sunwell is holy. They are moving to a more Light based society yet still using Fel)

Reverting Old God curses

Can we not suggest opening this pandora box?

Not actually true. We don’t have official numbers. the clearing up of old lore as well as chronicles allows for there to be a great many high elves within the alliance. We have no official numbers nor even a reference to try to determine them. All we know is that the high elves that lived outside of the kingdom were not part of the 90% that were killed off. They were not counted in that. We also know dalaran was fully evacuated before the scourge attack.

Like I don’t mind if BE get blue eyes (More customization is always good)

But lorewise, it would make sense if they didn’t: I mean this in there could be an explanation and justification for such a thing , because so far, BE’s having blue eyes again isn’t a confirmed fact, so it can literally go either way.

Just by saying “yes, the Sunwell cleanses the fel green in so and so context, but by doing so, it doesn’t “revert” or “give” a blue glow, because the Holy energy is dominant and thus in every case it ill give a golden glow” that would be it.

Elves got blue eyes because they were constantly under arcane energy radiation, then green eyes because of fel radiation. If the holy energy of the Sunwell is dominant over arcane, that’s enough explanation why blue eyes wouldn’t “come back.”

Why I speculate that Holy energy is dominant? Because we currently have Golden eyes and not Blue. Even if it’s retconned later, it implies that the common eye colors for BE right now are either Green or Golden, not blue.

And I stress the “for now” aspect of it. If blood elves get blue eyes tomorrow for whatever reason, that’s perfectly fine.

I think we have established that the presence of Void Elves voided -hehe- the population argument.

I’ve already addressed this but I’ll say it again for ease of discussion. Context matters. The way they presented the numbers we were given was in an infintesimally small, vague manner. A fraction of a fraction of people. It invokes a sense of direness without tying them down to a specific number.

they didn’t give us any numbers in association with the alliance high elves.

All of those numbers were in regards to the population of quel’thelas. It had nothing to do with the high elves of the alliance military that remained after quel’thelas left nor those that were citizens of dalaran, lordaeron, stormwind, and any of the other kingdoms.
