The Undying Lands

so… does summerset = Valinor? kinda feels like it

Not sure I understand?

I think she is trying to equate Lord of the Rings with Elder Scrolls online for some odd reason.

She may not know what game she is playing.

Not everyone plays Elder Scrolls, I think a good majority only know Skyrim.

And people call me a nerd… That is beyond my knowledge.

Where in Azeroth might I find the Summerset Isles?

it’s true, my realities are all colliding! ahhhyeeeee!

no but on a serious note, my question… though unrelated to wow, has logic behind it. the summerset isles is the home of the high elves of eso. it’s been stated that the island itself serves as a sacntuary for the high elves (previously exclusively to the high elves (another similarity)) from the troubles of the main continent (tamriel), admittedly, auridon helps with that. the land itself, like valinor is described, is blessed by light and beauty. this, with a few other similarities in the game brought me to wonder if the inspiration for summerset came from valinor

Says someone with a named based on Arwen. o.O

Anyway, if you want to get really nerdy, Aldmeris would be Valinor. You can go to Summerset.

Ill be honest I’ve been Arwena since 2006 when I was trying to look for an Elf name for my Blood Elf on retail because I’ve been on RP-PvP and enjoyed casual RP. But I am not very familiar with those lore settings. I am more of a Metzen / Gameworkshop / SquareSoft person. My first MMO was FF XI online.

And I was playing one of those Hulking Guy (Galka) because I thought they were kind of cool when I was 13 years old.

that is a pretty good point tbh. but we dont know what aldmeris looks like… or if it even still exists. some people seem to think it was destroyed, which would give us the reason as to why the aldmer fled. others think that the entire continent was just one big city… which doesnt sound very appealing tbh

Well, there’s not going to be a 1:1 parallel. But if I had to try, Aldmeris is to Valinor as Rivendell is to Summerset.

Aldmeris, to the best of my knowledge, wasn’t a location, just the unified mer before the various groups left Summerset. I don’t know if there’s anything in ESO that debunked that or not.

My memory is really foggy, but wasn’t there an island/continent before summerset?

Aldmer was the unified race. Aldmeris was their place of origin.

What does any of this have to do with the World of Warcraft?
