The Undermine is good because flying is restricted

Questing in this zone is significantly better than any other zone. Navigating your way up and through buildings, down into sewers. The devs can actually use verticality!

If flying was available you could just soar into the window and skip the entire carefully crafted set piece.

Flying should be restricted in more zones. That way we can have more high quality questing experiences like Undermine.

(of course Undermine isn’t perfect. But I still think it’s better than the other zones in TWW.)

You can make interesting uses of verticality without losing flight. A lot of the maps we have gotten since skyriding has been introduced are proof of that. Undermine works without flight because it is the size of a postage stamp, but even then I find myself wishing I didn’t have to go up and down so many obstacles just to get everywhere. I like the DRIVE system, but I still miss being able to soar through the skies.

A better idea than restricting flight in zones is make them interesting to traverse in both flight and on foot, and then let people choose which method they prefer. I like being in the air, for instance. Others prefer being on foot. Forcing people to play only the way one person thinks is correct just makes the other group of people have less fun.

The undermine is good because the goblin count is very high. More goblins = better it is very straightforward

Okay, there, Kung-Fu Panda (“My old nemesis: stairs”)

What would you say is the reason its good?

Yeah! I get to kill lots of goblins and even most of the goblins don’t mind!

  1. Large quantity of goblins
  2. Goblin jokes
  3. Goblin cartels
  4. Adorable goblin houses
  5. Awesome goblin raid
  6. Stacks of gold

The goblins are good and bad IMO.

Undermine has everything I love about goblins but also everything I hate about goblins lol.

Some of the characters are cool others are more loud and annoying IMO.

Oh no, you are going to trigger the diehard flyers!

Consider for example, 500 blood elves, and then stop considering it to give your mind joy again

That’s the issue with flying.

Expect some zones not to allow it, or indoor places like Undermine.

It’s kind of a shame, take a zone like Hallowfall for example.

If you couldn’t fly, the airships flying around would have a lot more purpose than just visual fluff.

I bet most don’t even know the airships in Hallowfall actually go from town to town, even to Mereldar and to all the other, smaller outposts/towns.

The airships now, are next to worthless because everyone can fly.

The world actually suffers a bit when players are given too much convenience.

Why bother building auction houses, when people have brutosaurs? Y’know?

That sort of thing.

It doesn’t have to be one way or the other, though. We’ve got choices.

Indoors, sure…outside, no thanks.
One small zone per expansion without flight is fine. We dont need to go back to WoD.

uh…isnt our flying pretty much what the airships would do anyway? But then we have no control and now every flight is just more wasted time?

I see brutos being used within feet of AH’s…so players are still hanging in town.
Actually, im literally sitting in the dwarven district right this second outside the AH and a Bruto 2 is sitting right in front of me.
They wanted to keep us in the cities more so they removed the bruto 1 from the vendor…but factually Ive seen literally no difference whatsoever in the city populations when Im hopping around the game world.

edit…lol…a bruto 1 just popped in front of me now…

I’d word it more like, “Undermine is good because flying isn’t needed.”.

It feels more natural riding my chopper through the streets.

It’s fun because of the layout, it’s packed with mobs and quests, it looks fantastic and the areas are diversified. It’s also a quite unique zone.

It’s also fun because the kart is really fast, going at 714% speed without boost which is slightly slower than Skyriding’s max speed while gliding (789%), making travelling much more fun. It would’ve been a whole different experience strolling around on your ground mount at 200-220% speed.

We’re basically flying at very low altitude

The zone is so small I don’t really care that much about no flying. I think most people in UM are doing chores for stuff they want - it’s not that they love the zone or care that there’s no flying.

Wrong. Zones that force people into ground mounts have notoriously been bad, hence Undercooke(d).

if you don’t like flight, don’t use it.
