First off: I don’t disagree with the popular opinion. The Jailer was a misstep and the Uncrowned are awesome.
But what exactly makes the Uncrowned a less-offensive string-puller in lore than the Jailer? Legion basically did the same thing: there were people influencing the lore up to that point in the shadows and you had no idea.

Is… is this a trick question? I’m not even sure how you think they’re comparable.
Legion asks you to believe “There was a secret spy ring that influenced or effected some unspecified major events behind the scenes a couple times.”
Shadowlands asks you to believe “literally everything that happened since Warcraft 3 revolves around the Jailer, who is now retroactively the most important character who ever existed. The Lich King and Kel’Thezard were agents of the Jailer but somehow also the Dreadlords, their explicit enemies and oppressors, were also secretly working with the jailer despite the mountains of evidence that they were strictly enemies. Every single character and event was motivated entirely by the actions and desires of a character who didn’t even exist yet.”
It’s the difference between adding some minor flourishes to the lore versus changing it completely to prop up a throwaway villain.

Didn’t you know?
The Jailer is actually the founder of the Uncrowned.

LMFAOOOO thank you for this.

Charisma another factor. They made character up that was supposed to have influenced all of Warcraft, and they made him as interesting as a rock. It’s not surprising they were laid off.

That source had better writing than Shadowlands.

He also mumbled through all of his lines which made him hard to understand.

Holy ish.
I’m hard of hearing and I have never wanted to smack a wow character harder than I did the jailer.
FML.
I am desperately waiting for a tell all post mortem on Shadowlands. I need it.
Worse, they also made another character (and his talking sword) who actually had charisma… and they went and made Denathrius second fiddle to the bald rock.

I thought it would have been neat if BfA ended with the Uncrowned kidnapping Anduin and Sylvanas to end the war between the Factions by forcing them to unite to free them.
It seemed odd that so many Rogues were popping up - Garona and Voss seemed positioned to throw Sylvanas in a sack and cart her away - doubly so for Anduin since he trusts Valeera and Shaw. It just felt like the Uncrowned was going to remove some crowns, the way these Rogues were getting spotlight as the war ground on.
But, no…. Girl Boss was Ebul, Shirtless man planned it all along, etc.
Was Zovaal into bear riding as well? That would make it complete.
