The ugly side of group loot

As I predicted years ago when they first announced an implemented group loot, it would be problematic when it came to trinket and special effect items. Yet up until now they had been counter balancing it successfully for the most part with dungeon loot options that were good runner up choices.

Now with our current season, its really showing the ugly side with group loot with how poorly tuned the bulk of dungeon trinkets are right now. Given my mercurial egg is beating out pretty much all other dungeon trinkets, until they get to 660+ ilvl where they barely eek out ontop. Compared to the raid trinkets that are clear upgrades, even at lower Ilvl’s. In which with group loot, you have a lower probability to see specific trinkets you may want due to not being able to class or spec stack now. Which again was fine when you had viable options that existed outside the raid, yet currently do not honestly exist due to how poorly tuned they are.

The recent trinket tuning as well was primarily targeted toward DPS trinkets, with pretty much one change to healing trinkets being a nerf to sprockemongers pick-me-up, which in all honesty is a massive mistake when you look at the fact that dungeon trinkets we currently have are barely beating out last seasons trinkets. Instead, dungeon trinkets at minimum should have been brought up to the same powerlevel, or close to that of what the pick-me-up is, over just mostly ignoring healers so far with this recent tuning pass.

Please consider doing a tuning pass on the dungeon trinkets, given it is just ROUGH to basically have very limited options that barely even beat season 1 trinkets.

Do the raid and hope for vault. We get guaranteed loot in 11.1.5

In all honesty that shouldn’t be a viable option to even consider, the well it will be fine later doesn’t help at all when you are trying to push content now. Now granted at the level I currently play it won’t be too much of an issue for raid. Yet for keys I forsee it being problematic given this would be a good amount of healing I would be missing. Which would have an impact given there are healing and DPS checks that have to be met through both skill and items as well.

Now how would they keep you subbed if you got everything you wanted right away.

Sorry I fail to see how this has any indication of group loot being the problem here, as opposed to poor trinket tuning from the get go after months of PTR feedback.

You had the exact same issue under personal loot too, so your point makes zero sense at all.

Worst part about group loot is winning a roll… than having like a bunch of people messaging you to buy it for gold… Im sorry, thats not an = exchange lol, especially if i dont have that set piece anyways. Oh gold… you have lost your value.

Am I the only one who doesn’t like the entire concept of trinkets and would rather see both slots replaced with cosmetic ones instead? Like a cosmetic class slot to bring back librams for paladins, quivers for hunters, sunglasses we can wear while wearing helms at the same time etc.

Not saying I should be granted everything I want off the first boss by any stretch of the imagination. I should, and am about to, work towards grinding things out, like the sigil from rookery and one of the rings from workshop. Yet when I look at the road ahead and can for see how with how limited my options are, in comparison to the raid trinkets which I only practically have two chances a week to obtain. Meaning that the dungeon options should be better tuned, which they aren’t, and blizzard so far is just not responding to this at all. Which brings me to:

Group loot is the issue given part of how you could farm out items from the raid up until DF was by class and spec stacking. Of course you had to spend a bit of gold, but when you had seasons like this to where the non raid options are very inferior to the dungeon options. You had a bit of a path forward to try and have better odds of getting an item from the raid you wanted.

Now that its gone, and you have no option, other than to sit around and wait for blizzard to get around to fixing it, which historically has been far too late. Like looking at my sims, pretty much 75-80% of the trinkets I can pull from dungeons do not compete against my 639 egg at all, even at a max mythic track Ilvl. Which doesn’t need much explaining to say how absurdly bad that truly is.

Wait til 11.1.5. You have 5 months at least to farm gear

That’s the point, you can’t class stack for split runs.

You have 5 chances. LFR, Normal, Heroic, Mythic and then vault

Which character and was it ST or MT?

My best 4 trinkets are 2 from Priory and 2 from Floodgate.

Some trinkets have decent visual effects, but not enough. I’d rather just fun things also and maybe special enchants or items to use on your gear to give them trinket like effects instead. Especially for our weapons, as that would open up a opportunity to give us an ability that we use our weapons in a visual way (especially for casters lol)

Otherwise tbh… I don’t mind trinkets at all. But always for fun animations/customizations too.
