So i see some post about I dont like classic going back to retail or its already dying post and just kinda laugh at it. Here is the reality yes there are a bunch of people that jumped the bfa ship to play a actual good game but here is what i actually noticed. I have ran into more people that quit the game long before bfa hell abunch before cataclysm. What the classic nay sayers fail to acknowledge is classic has brought back far more players than a shell of a game that used to be good. So trust me when i say people who dont like classic your in the minority on this one i see classic thriving and even now we are seeing videos about retailers having a hard time filling raid slots. I myself uninstalled the main game because Classic is the game for me.
yup exactly!
This is now my third lockout week of āforgettingā to do my retail mount runs, the only thing that really was keeping me subbed until Classic came out.
Some time I should really go fight Arthas in case he wants to give up his pony finally, but for now Iām way more excited that I just got a Brown Skeletal Horse and Shadowform.
Feels so cool to ride and I love the OG shadow form so much!
My entire old guild came back, for classic, and they wanted nothing to do with retail and hadnt played in over 2-3 years!
Were a small group of older players, about 10 in total, but prior to classic i was playing retail solo or with maybe one of them.
I hope Blizz is paying attention, people are actually choosing a 15 year old option over the current dumbed down mindless grind that retail has become .
Itās been 3 weeks and I still get hammered with q times even after server xfers and increasing of the caps. Good sign for classic IMO I honestly thought it would have plummeted after the first week from the flood of retail players who wanted to test it out.
i checked out retail again, just to see if I could tolerate it. Went to Duskwood on retail, and in Classic thats where I am currently at, and it was just bad. The aesthetics were not the same, it felt off. This creepy, dreary, and unsettling atmosphere that Duskwood in Classic provided was just not there in Retail. The combat was boring as hell, it was over in 2 seconds, everyone was wearing heirlooms (myself included). Also, I saw a bunch of Horde come to town and some high level Alliance fighting them. It was extremely boring watching everyone constantly heal themselves, stun everything, roll 40394040 feet away, and just never die. Bad game.
I just canāt go back to that anymore. Iāll still follow the story, but they better hope their next expansion is good because BfA is so awful. I am having an absolute blast on Classic, and I canāt see myself playing retail seriously anymore.
Side note regarding PvP. All of the skirmishes Iāve had while leveling in Classic have been 100% more entertaining than that of Retail. Wether fighting zergs of Horde, or small group combat, its been amazing. I got into a 1v1 fight last night with a 31 Orc Warrior (me at 30), both fully healed, and ready to rumble. I ended up beating him, but god damn was it fun. He resisted my hammer stun (freaking orc racial) when I needed to get a heal off, so it took some thinking to get around that without wasting my bubble. Thankfully I got some pretty good crits off and got him, but damn was that exciting, and we were just in our 30s.
It actually felt like a Paladin and Warrior were fighting. The warrior hit hard, but he couldnāt just dash around and heal himself like in Retail. I had all my utility to work with, but I wasnāt putting out the big DPS like he was. It felt amazing to have two entirely different kits going at it, rather than two different skins of the same thing going at it. Also, blessing of freedom ftw. No hamstrings here.
There is few good online RPG games nowadays, players (specially 30+ age) are hungry for those as they lack, thats why we are witnessing the monstruous queues and we should not be upset by it, instead be thankful for this comming into reality.
I sure hope not. Let Retail be itās own game and not a Classic wannabe. Classic and Retail should remain separate games that attract different players.
But they wont, there is zero chance they maintain both over time.
What needs to happen is merging the best of both into one product.
Restore the complexity and difficulty of classic with the quality of life and other such changes in retail. .
There is no reason they canāt keep both games as is. Retail for the people who want a RPG lite with more difficult end game. Classic for those looking for a more heavy RPG with easier end game.
But by combining the ābestā aspects of both games into one product you risk alienating both audiences. Many classic players do not want retailās qol features like lfg and flying mounts. Likewise, many retail players do not want classicās slower combat and RPG elements.
classic is making me want to try retail again as well after not being able to play consistently since tomb of sargeras released. thinking I may just roll on a new server, but without heirlooms! seems counterproductive I guess but eh have fun with it.
definitely doesnāt have the same atmosphere as classic though. I canāt even remember if thereās weather effects in retail? I remember rain in westfall in classic
Why do you say that?
If there are enough people invested they absolutely would keep Classic servers around for the long term IMO. I mean all they have to do is keep it up, they donāt have to come up with new content, do balancing patches, after a while wonāt be many bugs left to fix, etc⦠itās about as effortless as it gets when it comes to maintaining a game that is raking in monthly subs.
If you want an idea for how long Blizzard is willing to stick by older games, just look at SC1. The original version is still fairly active, considering itās age, and the servers are still up and working⦠21 years later, with there being a newer version of the game also active and available. So yeah, I donāt think them keeping Classic around for a while is out of the realm of possibility.
People that respond like you have to the subject need to stop dealing in absolutes.
No one is suggesting that retail become classic. The point is like it or not, classic has an appael in 2019 and it is not 100 percent nostalgia fueled as many would like to claim. Classic being successful can remind blizzard about the smaller conceits that have been lost along the way, the small principals that classic adhered too, they can incorporate the stregnths that classic has without abandoning all the improvements that the game has seem over the years.
Maybe players want a more meaningful world to interact with instead of a hub / lobby based system where you hop around playing wack a mole with WQs and queue into everything that is worth doing. Maybe they want professions to really mean something and want dungeons to feel like dungeons again instead of the arcadey spectacles they have become.
You dont have to lose things like class / role viability, mount accessibility, scaling dungeon difficulty and raid teirs. Honestly the list goes on but to sit there and think blizzard should take nothing from classics success, allowing it to influence some directional shifts for the future of retail is abject ignorance.
Maybe youāre right. However, it seem like a lot of the people wanting Classic to influence Retail arenāt just asking for some small or minor tweeks to Retailās class system or difficulty, they are usually referring to things like the removing of the LFG/LFR systems, and flight.
Heirlooms have a tab now and donāt have to be manually mailed.
EDIT - I think I may have misread your post. My apologies!
this is how it should be!
glad you are having a good experienceāI have been having some really entertaining duels/pvp on my druid. literally heart-racingā¦feelsgreatman
Iām not going back to retail. Screw that.
I donāt know if Iām participating in classic end game, but I rather level characters all day long on classic than to even log in to retail and get free purps.
Iām going to wait until paragraphs are invented. Someone want to offer a tldr?
all good! yeah the heirloom tab is quite nice. I love heirlooms, since Iām an altaholic big time (in MoP I had most classes at max for both factions across a few serversā¦). but itās been a long time since I quested without them and just tried to enjoy the story content without being super big op. probably since cata launch
