The Trading Post should not be used as a place to acquire mounts that did not cost money in the past.
Hi, I’m sharing my two cents on the AOTC mount discussion.
Why the Trading Post has become “the easy solution”, but not the right one:
The Trading Post by itself is a great system. For new and removed priced collectables. Although the Tender costs and gains are questionable at best, it is a great way to add things back into the game, and add new things to the game.
However, the news of the AOTC mount receiving a Tender cost makes me worried. I don’t think mounts like that belong on the Trading Post. It is too far from their original source.
What unobtainables should be part of the Trading Post?
Any item that required IRL purchases to obtain should be added back into the game either through the Trading Post or as a promotion.
- Recruit A Friend Items
- In-Game Store Items
- TCG Items
What unobtainables SHOULDN’T be part of the Trading Post?
Any item that required some amount of effort to obtain, or had a source in the game that could be added back or recycled should not be added to the Trading Post.
- AOTC Mounts
- Old Gladiator Mounts:
- Other, like the Slimecat, Black Proto Drake, Trial of the Crusader mounts… etc.
For those that do not belong on the Trading Post, how do we add them back then?
WoW has a lot of existing current and legacy content that could benefit from extra rewards, even if they are returning items. Here are some examples for the items mentioned.
- AOTC Mounts: Timewalking Raids
- Old Gladiator Mounts: Vicious Saddle system for Gladiators
- Slime-Cat: Complete all 3 Shadowlands Raids on Mythic
- Black & Plagued Proto Drake: Add them back to Glory of the Raider.
- Trial of the Crusader: Rare Drop from the last boss or a Argent Tournament purchase.
Original sources can even be added back for some, like we’ve seen happening to Scarlet Monastery and Scholomance.
- ZG Tiger & Raptor: Bring back the ZG Raid
- Amani War Bear: Bring back the ZA Raid
- Brutosaur: Add it back to the BMAH vendor
Conclusion:
It is called Mount Farming.
Not Mount Buying.
Let us FARM mounts.
Bring back their original source or add them to a new challenge. They should not be a hollow purchase.
That’s all.
