The Toxicity is going to kill classic

Now that most people have hit 60 and started the real grind, the toxicity has reached seething and intolerable levels. I literally had a note pad on my desk over the weekend and took a literal tally of the good vs. bad groups and the number of toxic people I encountered. It was unbelievable. I took a tally of how many groups I saw reserving stuff Ptrophy style vs. doing it vanilla OG legit… 78% on Saturday morning across about 3 hours. 68% after a 6 hour session on Sunday. (this does not take into account multiple people from the same group advertising in global chat but these stats are probably not skewed by much from that)

So if you’re wondering why all the OG vanilla players are the ones leaving, this is why.

Such a lovely time.

I’m already back playing FF14 except my 1 raid night. I’m hoping that something gets released to retail and this eventually goes into BC.

All my hope is pinned on that at this point.

“I LITERALLY KEEP A NOTEPAD OF PEOPLE NOT PLAYING THE GAME THE WAY I THINK THE GAME SHOULD BE PLAYED”

Pressing ‘:’ to doubt any of this actually happened.

Thread 4,543,901 of what is going to kill classic or why classic is already dead…

Thank you, next?

I think wholesome players tend to flock together while those who have trouble finding groups continue to do so.

Can I have your stuff?

hey, OG vanilla player here. I did the same notepad thing back in 2004. I got similar results, yet 15 years later the game is still here.

Does anyone else just want start screaming the lines from Toxicity by System of a Down every time someone makes a stupid thread like this complaining about “toxic ppl in classic”?

Yeah, because a single small sample size, with an arbitrary threshold for “toxic” is something to worry about.

It likely has more to do with the OG players who thought their experience gave them a leg up, finding out most players know all the secrets the OG were going to use to become rich and powerful.

People have realized that a full vibrant server means you will never have a peaceful spot to grind or farm, and now, they’re cranky.

FTFY. This thread is saved.

I came in this thread only to make SOAD jokes, but everyone else already did :frowning:

The thread title is a little dramatic and obviously triggered a Classic defense nerve. :stuck_out_tongue:

Toxicity does seem on the rise, on both pvp servers im on. Its new and apparent. Could it be pre phase 2 jitters?

Will it kill classic? No but the numbers were destined to slide and the limited endgame of phase one has something to do with it. Just wait for phase two after the initial surge of new subs…and all of the ensuing rage quits by the misinformed. Much stuff will be asked for on the way out.

Im guessing phase two will be here by Christmas if Blizz is timing it on log in skids What do you think?

But really it’s pretty pathetic to get infuriated over groups reserving loot. And it’s plain cringey to refer to “OG” vanilla players.

It’s even more cringey that you claim to speak for them. I doubt most who played vanilla seriously are whiny little babies who act like they’ve never interacted on the internet before and then quit over something mean being said to them.

And also I do love complaining about toxic pvp on a pvp server. I wonder if there’s any solution for people who don’t like world pvp?

  • Calls other people toxic
  • Literally keeps a pen and paper next to his desk so he can keep a running list of people he hates

OPs life must be full of nothing but loving, supportive people or they never go outside… Because the sample size is fairly similar to real life… they’re just more blatant about how terrible they are.

If you claim to have played in 04-06 but complain about how classic is way more toxic than back then, i immediately begin to doubt that you actually played back then.

“But really it’s pretty pathetic to get infuriated over groups reserving loot.”

not really.

it’s being a ninja and trying to hide it behind a moral high ground you think you have. you feel as if some pixel data entry is more suited to you vs anyone else on the server.

i unno, that seems super petty that you can’t play the game as intended and you have to make exceptions to get what you want.

but i get it, it’s a video game, and it’s in an environment where you won’t get punished for being an absolute child despite being an adult.

keep on, keeping on.

This thought process would work if you couldn’t choose to NOT run with those people, but you can, so it doesn’t.
