That’s how y’all sound hand-waving away Shadowlands’ quitting playerbase. “It’s only 41%! That’s normal!” “It’s only 60% of revenue drop! Happens every expansion!”
If you love this game, you would want it to be successful, dynamic, engaging and relevant/keeping up with the current market. You wouldn’t want to accept the floundering playerbase of the last few expansions. Developers ought to aim to make the best game they can, not eke out money from a small subscriber base and keep the intellectual property in managed decline.
So let’s do everyone a favour and abandon this mentality of denial, and mental gymnastics of pretending why this is actually the best expansion ever, and how the numbers are actually irrelevant. We need to acknowledge the problem to solve it.
If you have owned or operated a business, you will know the importance of numbers, why this bodes ill for Shadowlands and WoW, and why we shouldnt lie about the ship sinking.
A spike and massive fall says one thing: People wanted to love your MMO but they hated it and left.
It isn’t normal.
It isn’t excusable.
It is a result of very bad game design.
A gradual decline is normal followed by upticks as new content comes out. People rush through content, they need a break, another game catches their interest.
Subs falling off a cliff is bad. You can deny that all you want if it makes you feel better but you’re wrong.
If the playerbase is truly leaving like some people think, then Blizzard will likely add some tasty rewards to get people back. Then I can eat those rewards too
Nothing is private these days people have their sources to get into anything now on the NET or stored on computers. NOTHING IS SAFE. Don’t be naive. Christ countries can rig elections now. You think getting access to details like this is hard?
It’s their choice to! who are you to say or be nasty about it? go away Ion. Go play this so called crap fest you created people hate. You’re always here putting people down about quitting.
Well 9.1 is coming in 6 months. Hopefully that shakes things up. But to get there we need to acknowledge the massive drop off in players as well as how Shadowlands is deeply, maybe even irreversibly broken.
Ah, yes. The Gospel of Bellular, aka the King of Clickbait.
Here’s the actual facts. Revenue is up over the last few expansions at this stage of the content cycle. Also, revenue is trending positively overall. The “omgwtfbbq” drop is literally the same exact post-content drop off we’ve seen 32 times so far going back over 16 years.
He (the OP, not Bullular) looks at the waves coming in and believes the ocean will soon be as smooth as glass because waves have troughs.
Use math. Use google. Use investor reports. Hell, call a day trader and ask him to look at the stock and see if it’s worth it. Use any real life, actual source for information over a literal entertainment show. People like you are why Faux News still exists.
The truth of the matter is you’re upset and you want validation for your negative opinions, and 4M people playing Valheim between patches is a great source of fake validation.
I could be wrong, maybe 33rd time is the charm and WoW really will die this time. But, I wouldn’t bet on it if I were you.
