It would just fit to put the warcraft 3 tinker and Goblin Alchemist hero units under the Tinker class.
Being a tinker requires more than " engineering but also a deep understanding of chemistry as well.
Goblins need their trinity role class
tinker give us a 3rd mail user
gives ranged weapon farmers another class to enjoy their collection
Oh yeah finally a new ranged class in a triple threat of 3 melee additions
With all the wasted time into these worthless progression system. I would not put it beyond Blizzard to not be introducing another class anytime soon.
It sounds like you might enjoy playing a Gnome Hunter Engineer. This tinker recommends it 100%.

I think it’s incredibly likely that Goblin Alchemist gets rolled in with Tinker.
The Alchemist heal in Warcraft 3 was a really neat effect on a strong hero.
I imagine the healer spec uses potions and medicine instead of Magic.
I’d also flip completely if they had healing gas grenades, but maybe I just played too much Killing Floor.
Hopefully they add the tinker class in 10.0. Just so people stop asking for it. I doubt it will be as good as people remember though.

Dragonsworn would also give us Dragon Knight, Dragon Disciple, and Dragoon. 
The professions are already invalidated. They totally gutted professions to the point they are not fun or very useful amymore.
I would love a Tauren, Tinker, Alchemist, Spy
I assure you that If we get a class that heals and buffs with various potions, Alchemist will NOT be invalidated.
Battle elixirs and battle potions are not going away. They’re some of the best buffs in the game.
Engineering on the other head is already entirely combat utilities, other than it’s 5 minute cooldown bombs, and I don’t think anyone will mind if those go.
Gnomes already have a Trinity class tho.
I agree, Gnomes should absolutely have a Tinker class though, none of the other classes “Feel” right for them. It keeps me from playing them
I could totally have a Gnome Alt or something, but their whole aesthetic is machinery, gears, and tech. I don’t have a class that fits that at all.
Why not have melee spec also? Actually, it be could another 4 spec class like druid.

No particular reason, It’s just that there are Tinker NPCs in game already and they clearly have 3 specs.
Ranged DPS, Healer, Tank.
So if that class gets added, most people assume it’ll be that.

As a Death Knight, I can raise an Army of the dead, use Death Coil, and Death Pact.
Shaman can use Chain Lightning, Earthquake, Feral Spirits, Far Sight.
Hell, Even the most recent class, Demon Hunter is a carbon copy.
Fast Moving, Metamorphosis, Immolation Aura, Dodging attacks. They even have a Mana Burn in PvP.
Every Class in the game rips abilities from WC3, and does them really well.
So I imagine a Tinker would be a lot like the Hero Unit.
They’d build damage dealing Turrets, Have a Shredder suit, and Fire Missiles. Lots of missiles

I mean, I will yell at Blizzard for a whole lot of problems in this game.
But when it comes to the classes, they are all excellent portrayals of their WarCraft 3 Source material.
Really you have a mech suit you can tank in? Or turrets that you can build to dps a boss? Or a healing ray gun/vials of goop that could be used to heal people? You don’t cover that fantasy one bit my dude
