The Three Types of Tanks

This is the thing that is just getting on my nerves lately. Chain pulling > mass pulling. It’s not necessary and even if one person dies because they got double casted on, you lose 15 seconds plus the time it takes them to run back. Put down your egos, and put down the “this is a normal pull” bs and think about it.

I-i came in here expecting a conversation about adding new tank tops as mog options…

no because they fall under catergory no.1

Maybe not you personally. But for dps in general, yes. There are too many dps out there who think they can set the pace based on nothing about the group but their own desire for rapid pace and chaos. If it’s not moving fast enough, they will pull even if the healer can’t handle it and the group can’t kill that fast.

We need that.

TYPE #4: “I’m Aware of Everything” Tanks

I take my time, answer only to my healer. If they pull it and don’t want to path it to me, they can tank it. My only responsibility is to pull, hold aggro, and keep the stress level down on my healer. You call it slow, I call it cautious. My way of tanking may take 5 extra minutes, but everyone lives.

Whenever I feel like not waiting… I will tank. And I’m the you pull it you tank it “type”.

Based on the titles, what if I am both of these? Lol

Leeroooooooooooooooooy Jenkiiiiiiins

fixed that for you. as a tank myself if i dont pull big one of the dps or healers will.

The type I am. “The over worrying Mother tank”

I go slow just because I wanna keep everyone safe. If I try and rush my anxiety spikes like crazy lol

I get more exhausted with tanks that under-pull rather than over-pull. If you over-pull you know you’re making a mistake because the group wipes.

If you under-pull, even if the packs are dying, you’re not playing well and it’s obnoxious to hold my cooldowns every other pack because it’s not worth popping anything on 3 mobs when they’ll die in five seconds and I won’t have anything for the next larger pull and a half.

There’s a balance that experienced tanks will find intuitively on a per-group basis. If they are very good tanks, they’ll do it fast.

I’m in this camp too, watching a tank do those group by group pulls at the start of ZF is just… No
