The Thirsty Goblin

It’s fair to say after so many years and complaints by the player base that one QUEST that has demoralized the community. Why hasn’t this quest been fixed? Yes it’s only one quest. If you plan on playing alts, you’ll end up doing it multiple times.

Did you know Rogue poisons last ONE HOUR? Did you know I had to apply Poisons twice and with 45 mins left on my third poisons I still don’t have the stupid gland? Waste of time! Fix it!

I’ve never seen someone complain about this quest. I think I got it on the first kill!

RNG will be RNG. I’ve done it six times and every time, get it by the time I finish the other quests in the area, or shortly after.

A lot of Old World WoW quests are designed to make you grind for experience. Quest grinding is an opportunity to better learn your class, and to gather gold/materials to aid you throughout your travels. Also, since it takes a while to complete these kinds of quests, it means that the developers don’t need to make so many additional quests to serve as “filler”; it’s honestly a smart design the way it is, and only the impatient types truly suffer in the long-run (why are you playing Classic WoW if you’re like that anyway lol).

Now now be nice. I’ve leveled way too many toons and I can say I’ve been fortunate to get this fast and the opposite. I have killed all the others for the 8 and 8 and then find myself scouting the muck to find the dude dropping the gland. It can be a real pain on those quests where the drop can be rare and then personal luck deciding today just won’t be your day!

i got the gland in like 5 kills on my rogue lol
it’s just RNG bro

RNG can be awful. I had to kill Rustfeather 515 times (one per day per character) to get the wheel mount drop. To be fair, it was wowhead (not Blizzard) that told me it was a 1 in 200 drop.

The only way to gaurantee that RNG won’t fail is to not try it. Do you need the gland? Why do you need the gland? Is it worth it?

Nonsense. I haven’t noticed the community being demoralized ever since Vanilla. How did we ever reach 12 million subs with a “demoralized community”?

Because it isn’t broken. It is working correctly.

How many kills have you done. Are you sure you’re killing the right thing? Some player in WoWhead says it only drops from the “Thistleshrub Dew Collector”. It doesn’t drop from any other mob, even ones that look similar.

How many Thistleshrub Dew Collectors have you killed?

I’ve never had it go that long. 30-40 min, maybe? This was probably part of the design. It basically gives some purpose to a mob grind.

I leveled 6 characters to Lv.60 and I’ve seen it drop on the 1st mob, drop 20 minutes into it, drop 90 minutes into it, but one time it took so long I gave up. lol

I mean… if you want to see a long quest grind, go get the enchanted sea kelp…

On this character, I found it on my first try.

On an alt, I had to farm it for about 30 minutes.

Guess which character earned more exp?

I still remember the time I got that drop from the first mob I killed. it was great.

I remember when Khadgar’s Essays on Dimensional Convergence dropped in Swamp of Sorrows. Good times!

It’s completely random but i suspect the drop rate is pretty low. Definitely the worst quest in the game in terms of drop rate

I rarely get it within the 8 and 8 of the other quest. At most it’s taken me about an hour to get it. Never over two. I definitely would have taken a break after that.

i’d never done this quest until classic as i played ally in actual vanilla https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=845/the-zhevra my friend was grouped with me. i got all of them in like 6 kills. we spent an ungodly amount of time grinding those buggers to get her hooves. she said the quest is always that bad and it was just more of my ridiculous luck as to why i got the drops so fast. :man_shrugging:

The hooveless Zhevras of the Barrens are an infamous one, like the Heartless and Headless raptors of Arathi.

I love the “Got it on my first kill” replies. Low drop rate my friends. This is not the only quest like this. There are more scattered around the game that will drive you bonkers.
