The suspensions were dumb

Just my opinion but here it is:

When they do a programming oopsie and it makes it so raid night can’t happen or your game crashes or your items go missing or whatever, there is never a blanket “hey sorry about that”. IE, they make a mistake that is a detriment to players, nothing happens and they aren’t exactly quick to fix it.

They make a mistake and it ends up benefiting some players, the ban hammer comes out. Whether it was farming that world boss on darkshore for loot that doesn’t matter or getting extra xp on an alt that doesn’t matter, here’s a ban.

Any other game would have that hotfixed in 24 hours at most, LoL which has a large and active playerbase which finds bugs on the regular gets things patched and done and they move on with life. It isn’t this massive punish the players for our mistakes type thing.

I didn’t do the exploit because I don’t care about leveling right now, but if I wound up with a 31 day ban I would definitely just quit. Just nonsense. We don’t do quality assurance and we’re awful at hotfixing therefore see you in a month. What a joke.

There was nothing in the tooltip to suggest the buff could stack. If they wanted you to use an xp potion in a manner that was different from all the historical examples, they would’ve indicated so in the tooltip.

No, the suspension’s weren’t enough if you ask me.

You have to have the mental capacity of a kindergartener if you thought the exploit was intended by Blizzard.

This. It was very clearly not intended behavior, and frankly, the ToU states that Blizzard can suspend or ban accounts whenever they want for whatever reason they want. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

The well known 30 days ban wasn’t just for exploiting. It was broadcasting the exploit.

Don’t cheat and you won’t get suspended. It’s after all an EZ game right??..

I think they were well warranted. Especially when they had people actually streaming themselves doing it, telling everyone … “I won’t get banned, haha.” Essentially a big middle finger to blizzard.

I even recall someone going so far as to make a thread on the forums with a link to a stream. I honestly was tempted to give it a whirl, but my common sense kicked in and I didn’t. To those who did, well … maybe you should learn something from your vacation regarding exploits.

According to GD, leveling takes no effort whatsoever! At the same time, they all scream to make leveling faster and mo betta.

Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.

/says as a rogue and does all the crimes

Sounds like the OP is mad that preach got banned. Good, blizzard should’ve punished him harder imho.

Sorry still say it was not the right call. No i like leveling slow and did not do it. Still see nogthing wrong with it. Should of just hot fixed and move on.

The tooltip did say “20 stack”, but did that mean in your bags, or the buff itself. I’m with the OP on this one. If you don’t test, and then ban hammer players, its just bad form…

It’s not a crime if you don’t get caught

Just my opinion but here it is:

When a player first installs WoW or a new patch, they agree to a lengthy boring list of rules that includes a very clear warning about abusing game bugs to gain an advantage. You can’t even play the game without agreeing to those rules.

Wait a minute… that isn’t opinion that is fact.

I actually cant argue with this.

Stacks in lots of 20. Just about every item states how many you can place in a stack. If Blizzard wanted to give you an OP potion they would tell you. Let me tell you the only clever argument that could be constructed. Someone could say they thought it was one of those “secret quest chains” like the one to get Uuna or the mount(s).

Even that would be seriously stretching it and laughed at. Nah, they got caught with their pants down and they know it!

There is a huge difference between refreshing the buff when it was getting ready to fall of and those who intentionally used many many pots over an extended amount of time on multiple different characters

Come on, they knew what the were doing.

The thing that’s dumb is the randomness of the ban lengths. Some people went from 20-120 and got 7 days, others went from 115-120 and got 31 days.

I personally didn’t do the exploit but I would have if I would have been able to level from 20-120 for only a 7 day suspension.

The very soul of an exploit is using something unintended in game for personal gain.

All computer programs of this size and scope have bugs. Some of those bugs may do things that reward you in ways that should give you the thought “should I be doing this?” If you get that thought? Don’t do it.

Are they random? Or is it due to additional account actions or severity of the infraction? Not everything is like everything else. Without the full scope of the data, you can’t infer that it’s random.

How many Mages got banned for using Blink when it was moving them further than it said in the tooltip?

(The answer is Zero! They just changed the tooltip! LOLOLOLOLOL)

You’re just trying to find an excuse. “But it didn’t specify!”

Well, gee, then why cant I get a food buff stacking to 20? Because it says the same thing!

20 stack has always meant how many items per stack in your bags.
