People quoting 1984 or accusing me of being ignorant are just not correct. (Kaslain and Aranthar).
There are already words that are not allowed in World of Warcraft. Literally removed from the game if you try to type them. Are we already living in your feared Orwellian hellscape? What is the problem with adding one more word to the list especially one with such a terrible history.
Heck, I’m not even calling for the word to be removed entirely like others already are. Just that it be changed from a permanent fixture of Zangarmarsh.

War has a terrible history. Should the game now be World of Conflictcraft?

Every word is capable of triggering someone, since we’re talking about an explicitly emotional response. This is not a good reason to change the word, it is a good reason for the triggered person to seek assistance and counseling.

If that’s what the developers decide. Ultimately it’s up to them.

Goodluck getting blizzard to change something after about 30 threads to change druid ticks lol

Well you may need to consider some other things.

While “Slave Pens” is upfront and popular right now. There are actually hundreds, if not thousands of references to slavery in this game. As per usual, in this genre and warring atmosphere, demons ect.

Of course. But this is your argument. Do YOU think that the game should be called World of Conflictcraft?

Start by cutting the head off the serpent - then the body will fall.

hahahaha, oh man thank you. This is priceless.

People really do think the US invented slavery and is the ‘most racist’ country in the world.

You are describing the actions of a for-profit company reacting to customer complaints. I would have preferred they take a more enlightened position but the world we live in today does not seem capable of that as much as one might hope.

It would be almost impossible though. You would have to basically pacify every race, no wars, no conflicts, rewrite the entire history of wow lore.

Historians have been replacing “slave” with enslaved person because this gives enslaved persons their dignity back. It is a way of saying that these were dignified individuals that were tragically enslaved against their will. But to make a blanket ban on the word “slave” , I fear would serve to whitewash history. We must also remember that formerly enslaved people like Frederick Douglas used the word slave.

So I guess we have survey every single person what word(s) trigger them so the whole world can not use them. Just grow up and stop letting a word affect your life.

So then you’re advocating for “The Enslaved Person Pens”? That is much too verbose.
PS - I don’t disagree with you. We are on the same side here.

Ok, well i have a simpler name. The Slave Pens.

No, I think enslaved persons is appropriate for a history class, not necessarily a video game.

Yeah, I like it. has a nicer ring to it. Blizzard should use it.
