General discussion seems to be pushing with a void skin for paladins lately. Espaicially VE players.
How does the community feel about this?
I feel if we where to get this skin, every class should also get their reverse theme skin to make it fair which in most cases would lead to dumb things like a nature themed DK.
As an elf and pally fan id LOVE to be able to go back to alliance and play my high elf (void elf) paladin.
That said id much rather they work on classes/specs and nothing else till launch.

Using void magic instead of light?
That is what i am saying here, the strange push for a void skin for paladins.
I mean we have undead using the light, disregarding the idiotic reason for why, i dont see much of a difference tbh.
They made a lore reason for forsaken priests, they can make 1 for pallies. Again though not something i care to see them working on atm lol.
Personally Iâd love a completely new void themed melee class⌠Keep it separate from pallys

Hen i speak class skin, i mean basically recoloring our spells to be more void color-ish.
While i have my opinions on forsaken/VE paladins in general, i am just talking about the reskinning here.
This i agree with. I think there is plenty enough difference between void and light magic to warrant making a void knight (eldritch knight) being itâs own thing then re-skinning paladins to be voidy.
People just want to feel special, usually theyâre the same kind of people who ask for Frost Pyromancer, Obese agility-based class, Undead Paladin, or Holy Necromancer.
Iâve seen those people in many fantasy-based game.

I mean, who cares really? If it was a cosmetic option, whatever. Not my cup of tea, but it wouldnât hurt me in the slightest. More cosmetic options is a plus in my opinion.

Where did you get those shoulders? Wowhead.com has them as not added to the game
Mine? They are from the âradiant lightbringer armorâ recolor that comes from completing the ânewâ mage tower challenge as a paladin.
Pretty meh, no strong feelings one way or the other. Honestly, I think Blizzard just needs to change the title of âVoid Elfâ to âHigh Elfâ then it would be less of an issue.
I think the idea behind class skins are awesome, but particularly on the void paladin thingy, my toughts are these:
Paladins and DKs are the only two classes that come even close to fulfilling a battlemage fantasy, even if it isnât exactly a Battlemage. Enhancement Shaman, is, well, a Shaman, no swords, no plate armor and their class fantasy is very specific, DKs are a very thematic hero class and, well, they are undead with glowing soulless eyes which makes it annoying to RP which leave us with Paladins.
So I noticed this when I unlocked Void Elves on BFA Pre-Patch and the only fighter class I could make was Warrior, except that Warrior is a god forsaken barbarian on all specs nowadays, which didnât fit my void elf at all.
Unless they make a Void Knight Hero Class which is probably⌠What? 4-6 years away from even having a chance of happening? A Void Knight skin for Paladin would be a good compromise.
I canât complain, Iâve been dying for Human Shamans for years now.
That said, the âcontradictoryâ aspect of Light vs Void in this game is ridiculous. Light should diametrically oppose Shadow. Void should not favor ANY energy, and devour all things.
Blizzard should redesign their concept of Void in two ways:
- Old Void represents mind-bending alternate dimensions (cue the Old God realms)
AND
- Deep Void as the literal state of non-existence. Edge of space and time, entropic to even the Old Void.
Doing this would allow Void to oppose ITSELF, and give room for a lot more playstyles.
Old Void will allow (some) WoW priests and cultists to keep doing what they do, as we see it now. It continues to look all dark purple and edgelord 'cause itâs magic from some Event Horizon hell dimension.
The Deep Void can give Void Elves proper Void Knights. Theyâd siphon energies from all around them, and have neat deep space effects and customizations. In combat, theyâd drain mystical essence from foes to temporarily boost their own attributes and resistances (e.g., draining fire from a Fire Mage gives them temporary Fire resistance).
They could get some really unique abilities for their class fantasy as well: teleportation melee attacks, teleportation movement effects, explosive decompression AoEs, CC effects where you trap someone in a black hole, etc. This has been done in other games, may as well do it in WoW.

Blizzard is always walking towards making things not matter. Theyâre getting closer and closer to allowing any race to be any class, soon weâll have Lightforged Draenei warlocks. We already have LFD DKs, so eh.
What I WOULD like would be thematic appropriate stuff, like warlocks getting the green spells in MoP. Maybe make Blood Knight and Anshe themed recolor of the paladin skills, for example.
His makes more sense then changing paladins to full void users.
At least they would still be using light magic on one way or another.
Pretty sure it looks the same to all Paladin, all groups are getting their powers from the Light regardless of their belief or methods.
Straight up, if Void Elves can be Paladins they have no logic to keep class-racial restrictions.
Iâm not against it, but Blizzardâs gotta choose one or the other.
Class restrictions is going away anyways.
What i am concerned about is making the class something it is not.
I havenât heard of this, do you have a link?
