Feels forced and pointless, I played until WOTLK then stopped because I disliked the changes to talent trees introduced in Cataclysm, then played a bit of Pandaria and then played Legion then stopped.
Honestly I never really understood the story until I saw a video compilation that explains it.
It is horrible… too forced, pointless, just feels like they are just dragging eveything ans changing stuff just to get reaction out of the players.
I think they need to stop developing more story to this Universe and give it a conclusion already, it is really bad.
One is that Arthas’ story coming to an end was truly the climax of the story that began in Warcraft III.
The second is that the writers have struggled with Spectacle Creep. We needed to have an adversary that was even more dangerous than the Lich King. Everything since is just trying to top what came before. That’s why our characters are generals, chosen ones and the like. Because eventually you get to the point of “I killed Arthas, Deathwing, Old God Garrosh, Archimonde, a freakin’ Titan and much more. What can actually challenge me?”
Kezan and that other island where goblins quest after Kezan but before getting to Orgrimmar, sucked.
Gilneas, was “ok”, but a big disappointment that there’s nothing to do there after worgen characters are done questing. Way to NOT have a faction capital for both worgen and goblins added to the game >_>
Everything level 1-60, Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms, SUCKED - with MAYBE ONE exception, being Fiona and the dwarf and blood elf in EPL, but even so, pre Cata EPL was STILL leagues better!
Level 80-85 content was “ok”, hell I’ll be more generous, it was good (I hated Vash’Jir though), but ruining everything else before that content made the expansion the worst I’ve ever played.
It was literally an expansion about just trashing up the thing everyone loved in the first place, that is also the name of the game. The amount of alternative lore they could have explored instead, places they could have gone, it’s absolutely ridiculous they went the route they did really.
That is true. Each time we need a bigger bad guy to fight.
I still like in wod that the lord of the shattered hand was the first raid boss. The dude who cuts cold cuts for ogre society was the second raid boss. The lord of the shattered hand is less of a big deal than the guy who gets angry at you for ordering roast beef after closing (dont do it).
Whoever had the idea that Thrall would just give up leadership of the Horde to Syl was smoking something stronger than the Tauren sell to Goblins.
Thrall is literally like the end all Jesus character of Warcraft and when they decided that he needed to “find himself” instead of just, you know, going out and kicking the baddies in the behind with his buddies should have been laughed out of the board room.
What’s even worse than freakin’ Kargath Bladefist as the easiest raid boss ever, was the fact that Ner’zhul was dealt with in a dungeon. Second place was Cho’gall only being in the mythic version of Imperator.
If we’re talking from a subjective standpoint, nothing in the entire warcraft universe ever rose above the level of Bargain Bin fantasy for me. It’s pretty banal.
And that’s vanilla. All the other expansions are much worse.
