That’s how you sound when you try to make your point sayingthat you guys are a huge community and at the same time complain thay you can’t get a match full of xp locked peeps
Winner winner chicken dinner. Fo sho not enough respectful discussion pro and con. Just black and white. Shame too, it doesn’t need to be that way.
As for the issue I already said I hope this is a bug and gets resolved.
I want to propose this to the hardcore twins out there as well though. Just for discussion. How would you feel about a twink rated BG with appropriate rewards in scale with current rated rewards? Mounts titles, the whole nine?
I currently get no rewards other than gear which is fine. I don’t care about that other stuff really, wouldn’t be something that would cause me to go or stay etc, but more stuff is generally better.
Thought you all were a “huge” community…
If you get separated from everyone else (Blizzard saw that a very small group was ruining it for a much larger group) and can’t get into a match (because again your a lot smaller then you think or want people to believe) Then maybe it’s time for the twink community to rethink “Get Gud” or “Play how I want to play or get owned” mentality and understand the majority shouldn’t have to conform to a small group.
Never said we were a “Huge” group?
Let me tell you a story.
Five years ago I got my significant other to start playing wow. I was very excited because I’ve been a long time pvp fanatic and she wanted to exclusively play a healer. I thought great, if I can just get her to start pvping I’ll always have a pocket healer for bgs.
So we start leveling and get up to level nineteen. Now I’m not stupid of course, I know twinks have existed since the dawn of wow, so I throw on all my heirloom stuff and even drop some gold onto her account to get her some heirlooms too. I buy her the pvp heirloom trinket, and a few things off the auction house that I can afford.
We jump into our first BG. It’s warsong gulch. Perfect, I think. It’s a simple concept that she’ll figure out relatively quickly, and it’s a great place to have a pocket healer.
For the next fifteen minutes a rogue on the enemy team one shot nearly everyone on my team with Ambush. They had a druid cap two flags and then spent the rest of the match farming us right outside our graveyard.
My S/O was mortified. It was such a miserable experience for everyone BUT the twinks. At one point after getting one shot for the ninth consecutive time my S/O literally just got up from her desk and left.
I have not been able to convince her to so much as turn on war mode ever since that BG. She absolutely despises the thought of any kind of pvp, and it came solely from a few twinks abusing not just powerful gear, but early game power spikes and abilities. If that isn’t the very definition of anti-fun then I don’t know what is.
And before anyone says “lol get gud scrub” I’ll let you know that I -used- to be a pretty competitive and highly rated player (this isn’t my first account) that regularly reached 2200-2400 rating in arenas. I know how to pvp. I know how the game works. Anyone who twinks can tell you that certain classes at certain brackets are incredibly strong, because players don’t have access to all of their spells. Especially at very low brackets, there’s very little CC in the game, so there is not much stopping someone from blowing up a character with little gear, and then running away to try again. Don’t even get me started on healers who can heal 90% of someone’s health with a flash of light (or what have you) and can’t be interrupted because most classes just don’t get an interrupt that early.
In summation, Twinking is toxic to new players and ruins the pvp experience for anyone starting the game, or coming back to it. The whole purpose of twinking is to min/max a character to the best of your ability within a certain level bracket. That in and of itself is fine. If you want to do that however, you should be put into games against people who are also min/maxing.
I don’t cap a fresh character, run two mythic 0s, and immediately get put into a 3v3 against Method Orange.
Not sure why people who twink think people who don’t would say anything other than “Good!” to this. Our queues won’t be impacted at all and we don’t have to deal with people who get off on farming non-twinks and we get to entertain ourselves on the forums by reading the complaints. Seems like a win win win for us.
I fully understood exactly the reaction I would get. But there’s never been a better time than now to make that change. There is absolutely no reason for all of this hate, as twinks have co-existed with non-twinks since vanilla, and we’ve all been given the same tools as each other to decide what and how to play. We’re all people, looking for something in WoW to give us reason to pay that fee every month. Some of us found that answer years ago and are confused as to why suddenly we have to stop.
So, what you are saying is that your/her enjoyment is tied to success, and you’re unhappy that other people were getting that success because they had played more than 10 minutes.
Not necessarily you but it has been mentioned multiple times in this thread that the twink community is so huge.
The point still stands no one should have to conform to a very % of players, in fact it should be that small % that has to conform to the much larger base.
Blizz smashed my EP azerite on my main and I lost 20% dmg because everyone was complaining about how good Demo locks were doing. Now either I can deal with it and keep playing knowing I am not going be as good or swap over to something else. It’s the same thing with Twinks, the world doesn’t revolve around you all. If the ques gets split because of the obvious skewing of matches it causes then either keep playing and enjoy it or stop playing. It’s not going to effect the majority of the player base at all.
In summation, Twinking is toxic to new players and ruins the pvp experience for anyone starting the game, or coming back to it.
I don’t want you to think I didn’t read your entire post, because I did, and appreciate it. I’m sorry your S/O had that experience. I’ve been there myself. Unfortunately I’ve also been a victim of a dozen bullying scenarios in this game spanning ninja looting in my first ever raid, to being camped for hours on my first PVP server toon.
Sadly, toxicity in a video game is not a reason to remove an entire piece of it.
I will, however, say, your post gave me an idea.
How would you feel if new characters and pvpers were placed into THEIR own queue, until a certain number of games when they get placed into the regular queue? It sounds to me like your S/O’s negative experience came from a place of shock and disappointment, and you were disappointed as well. But the game doesn’t need to be anti-fun, if proper solutions are put in place.
I don’t think this is it.
With as long as the game has been out everyone should have a twink by now. You would think.
I’m all for giving you all specific twink queues.
However, I’m not a fan of twinks being placed back into the general leveling population.
Twinks did NOT co-exist with leveling players. Have your ead chat when there are twinks on the other team and yours has none?
We hate it.
We are stuck in the respawn.
We can’t realistically fight back.
Its not like twinks are a small group either, I just think the bigger problem is that were spread to thin to get decent queues, so its hurting us at the moment.
Seems like you guys are just pissed you can’t kill people in two hits anymore.
Boohoo.
You guys make it hell to play pvp. You bank on people not knowing about twinks, like those that are just wanting to give PvP or maybe they’re hoping against all hopes they don’t have to deal with it, and then you destroy them.
That’s not fun.
It ends up creating plenty of BGs with twinks on one side, everyone goes to the mid, the twinks kill everyone in twenty seconds, and then the people on the other faction either leave or just sit in the graveyard.
It’s fun for you guys cause you get a power trip over it. It’s like a seventh grader feeling good about themselves for kicked a kindergartner’s butt, but now that the adults have come around and say you can’t do that anymore you’re getting all upset.
Put on your big boy pants and get to level cap, or maybe focus on growing your community so you don’t have to worry about it.
And, for the record, it’s not about someone putting ‘effort’ into their character. You guys purposefully stop leveling, get all the broken enchantments, gear, etc., someone just trying to level isn’t going to do that.
People want to level, have fun, and play the game.
You guys want to stomp on them.
Now you’re mad that you can’t do that. Get over it.
Its not like twinks are a small group either, I just think the bigger problem is that were spread to thin to get decent queues, so its hurting us at the moment.
You hit the nail on the head. It was our neglect to realize we had created literally a dozen endgames. We cannot feasibly connect each other on every individual bracket. We’re trying all we can but it’s not working.
Are we all supposed to unite under one bracket, one banner? No, we’ve taken years to make our bracket our home. You think 50-59 is the PREMIER twinking bracket. No. It’s comparatively small as hell. I chose it purely out of love for being here.
Exactly. This is what happened to me. Over a decade when I first began playing I learned about this cool battleground thing that would let me fight against other players. So I made the long trek to the Mor’shan Ramparts and queued for Warsong Gulch. What ensued was nearly an hour of my entire team being graveyard camped by a premade pack of twinks who weren’t even trying to win the game, they were just farming us for HKs. I remember this one rogue I literally could not land a blow against despite him being my level, if he didn’t have 100% dodge it was close to it. He just stood there turning to face me so I couldn’t hit him from behind. Then he laughed and killed me in four hits. It completely ruined pvp for me for this game.
It’s a sad state of affairs that my original post is being flagged as spam, but this is the exact problem we’re facing as a group of players.
I’ve done all I can to keep things civil and represent those of us who I believe deserve to keep this going.
I hope the mods will understand.
We leveled up through natural means (no xp boosts, just doing quests) to level 19 and decided to check out pvp. That is literally the type of player that twinks prey upon. The people who don’t know what a nightmare low level brackets are for the average player, saw the option to pvp, and decided to check it out.
Note that I said I made sure we were both equipped with heirlooms as well. If you’ll remember Heirlooms were specifically designed with two purposes. To allow faster leveling via xp boosts, and to give decent scaling stats so that characters could level quickly without being gimped by a lack of gear.
It wasn’t even that we were -badly- geared. We just weren’t equipped with the best possible items we could find for our level, and we were punished heavily for it.
Fun isn’t inherently tied to success. Fun is tied to being able to play and enjoy the game, regardless of whether you’re winning or losing.
Sitting in the Graveyard for fifteen minutes counting down the thirty seconds between spawns is not fun.
