The state of the Neutral Kaldorei that helped Suramar

Title self explanatory.

While in their recruitment scenario, Thalyssra was shown to be quite pissed at Tyrande and the Alliance because while they helped the Suramar rebellion, they did so complaining, and thus the reason they wanted to extend relationship with the horde.

Fine so far, makes sense, Alliance and Horde weren’t at war when the Nightborne joined the Horde, so joining one side wouldn’t mean wanting the other side dead, just extending relationships.

But, there was a small group of night elves, that were not related to the Alliance by any means, that helped the Rebellion on Suramar based on their good will and sense of duty, i’m talking about of course Valewalker Farodin and the remaining members of the Moonguard.

Valewalker Farodin was fundamental for Suramar, as he is the one that had protected the Seed that became the tree that saved the Nightborne from their Nightwell addiction, i assume he would receive an important position or at least some level of gratitude from the Nightborne after all it was over, and the Moonguard, while had a minor role, they were also helping.

Now, like i said, those Night Elves aren’t tied to the alliance on itself, but i assume that due to the fact that they are Night Elves, they can’t just hang around a Horde aligned city, so I was wondering what happened to them, did they just leave? Were exiled from Suramar? Joined the Alliance?

I am hoping they went and joined/rejoined the Alliance. The night elven mages need some fairly well establish lore NPCs.

Why would they be exiled? Just being a Night Elf does not automatically make you an enemy of the Horde. If they are truly neutral, then it is unlikely there is any issue with their current arrangement. The Horde has an enemy of the Kal’dorei who are members of the Alliance, but that enmity does not expand to every member of the Kal’dorei as a race.

There would likely be some suspicion of them during the war, but it likely never reached the point of declaring them exile or persona non grata. They could well still be in Suramar (either the city or the zone) and still have neutral relations.

Probably rounded them up and executed them knowing the writers

Or maybe Suramar does not answer to the Horde for its internal politics and laws, and those same night elves are staying within the borders of Suramar, presumably back in the Moon Guard Stronghold and the Temple of Fala’dora respectively.

They are also not the only night elves in Suramar. The Irongrove Retreat is a group of night elves from Val’sharah- affiliated to the Temple of Elune and possibly Darnassus, who took refuge in Suramar. I do not see Thalyssra kicking them out just because the Nightborne are now Horde affiliated, although it is possible they returned to Val’sharah.

Edit: Do remember that Lor’themar allows high elves pilgrimage to the Sunwell too, and Auric is a high elf who remains in Quel’danas.

Farodin helped to create the Arcan’dor. I don’t see Thalyssra throwing him out of her territories simply because they died with the horde. As for the Moonguard, what’s left of it anyway, the probably remained where they are and on relative speaking terms with the Nightborne. I hope they Highborne can make a journey there to learn. The Moonguard have been without an arcane source of power longer the any of the elves and are probably the best ar using magic without it.

ugh…

No not everymember of a race automatically belongs to the nation/faction the playable version is a part of, and they frankly shouldn’t. There should be some neutral powers of the world and members of races who hire themselves as mercenaries or even work for the other side. If you homogenize everything into being red or blue you make it far less interesting of a setting and just stoke the fires of conflict.

Let me say it like this, I like Voss, I like Gazlow, but i don’t like them being Horde Leaders. I preferred it when they were neutral, It’s why a lot of people on both sides like Khadgar.

We need actual neutral people in wow.

I wouldn’t mind a neutral player option.

Eh bugger to that! I prefer everyone get behind one faction or another. I am hoping the Earthen Ring, Cenarion Circle and Argent Crusade all break up and rejoin their respective factions! This is why I am glad Malfurion is no longer neutral and with any luck will remain Alliance aligned!

Yeah the factions have generally been pretty good about the neutrals. Garrosh straight up executed the guy who attacked neutral nelf druids and not even Windrunner screwed around with the Argents.

If that precedence means anything, they’re probably fine.

Agreed. You’d think if Baine and other faction leaders can work cross faction when it’s beneficial, then players (who are immeasurably powerful at this point) could have the same agency to make their own decisions. I’d love if we could choose to become friendly with another race, maybe through quests or turn ins.

It would definitely be a long rep grind, which means I would never get it because I loathe rep grinds lol. We could also have zones were we are netural that allow the factions to speak with each other and even group/quest together if the quest you’re on comes from that netural zone.

It would be nice but you know it isn’t going to happen. Just look at what happened with the Kirin Tor in Legion. Hell, they seem to even be actively working to make the horde more neutral friendly again with the house cleaning they have done in the horde’s lineup.

Anyway a fundamental difference was those NEs were neutral to begin with were as most of the factions you listed are made up of members mostly from the factions.

I suspect that Farodin stayed to look after the Arc’andor which is after all his life’s work while the Moon Guard either attempted to reestablish themselves or linked up with the Kirin Tor. That is my guess anyway. The Moon Guard obviously chose not to return to NE culture like the NEs from Dire Maul so they clearly didn’t want to live under the rules Tyrande set on the mages of the NEs.

No it doesn’t. Thalyssra is a traitor to her allies and deserves to be put to death. Imagine trying to save an entire species from demonic influence and extinction, just for them to turn around and attempt to genocide your entire race.

Except Thalyssra and the Nightborne never did that.

That was Sylvanas and the rest of the Horde, who acted on a decision Thalyssra and the Nightborne at large had no input on whatsoever and were (as far as we can see from in-game and the short stories) nowhere near present enough among the forces responsible to have any influence on events one way or another.

By your logic, every Night Elf who fought the Legion is a traitor because they helped the Horde by fighting the Legion, which allowed the Horde to then genocide their race - despite them having pretty much no influence or significant role in the events that happened.

And besides, let’s just dispense with the main bit of stupidity here. Thalyssra owed Tyrande and the Night Elves no loyalty to begin with and thus could not betray them in the first place.

The Horde already has one race of elves that rather awkwardly owes its salvation to an act of selfless goodwill from an Alliance racial leader. I’d rather not make it two.

I have a really hard time believing that even neutral Night Elves would ignore the genocide of their people.

It seemed pretty clear that Tyrande was more interested in aiding the Nightborne rebelling because it meant they would die fighting the Legion instead of Night Elves. The city needed taking. Helping the rebels just mean that she got what she wanted with less of her people dying. She didn’t really seem interested in it as an act of benevolence. I mean she literally says in one world quest that the more Nightborne convinced to fight, the less Night Elves that have to.

Well the issue there is whether Tyrande’s lot were their people. The Moon Guard would have been in exile from the NEs for about as long as the Blood Elves were. Culturally they were probably closer to the Nightborne. Do remember the Moon Guard practiced an art which would have had them executed if they did so on NE land only a couple of decades earlier.

It wasnt genocide, it was an attack on an alliance capital. The fact that there are night elves outside of teldrassil that aren’t being targeted by the Horde prove that.

The moon guard and val’sharah nelves are in a good spot. Out of the way of any war and in relatively good standards with their neighbors (considering they’re the reason nightborne still live). Why would they change that and paint a target on their backs?
