Does anyone else feel like the music in World of Warcraft isn’t nearly as good as it used to be? The music was so immersive and simple, yet so great (think Elwynn Forest, Barrens, BC Nagrand, Grizzly Hills, Sholazar Basin, etc).
Now most zone music seems to just be some crazy, over the top, epic, unneeded fanfare or basically non-existent music compared to what we used to get, both of which offer zero immersion in a lot of cases.
There is just no feeling in the music anymore. It is like comparing a large, soulless, bland chain store to a warm, wholesome, inviting mom and pop shop.
Please have this simple, soulful, love for the game kind of music make a comeback in the near future.
The day they got rid of Russell Brower is the day WoW music stopped being good. I don’t think they even use a real orchestra anymore. I think it’s all digital.
So much of it became reused and rehashed in Legion that I turned it down in settings.
Northwest Sinfonia orchestra used to do one or two tracks up until Shadowlands. The vast bulk of the music we hear in-game is scored and recorded in-house.
It’s wonderful. The Blizzard music team knocks it out of the park with total consistency.
I think this comment just proves Blizzards cynical theory that most gamers don’t have a well trained ear to tell good music vs bad. It all just sounds the same to them.
I have to disagree, I love TWW music. First time in a bit I would stop questing/exploring just to listen. Even have the proscenium music on my soundtrack background music list, LOVE the use of flutter tonguing!
