The state of mm hunter

double tap, removed. crazy bow that no one asked for, nerfed. damange getting nerfed by numbers of up to 50%, illogical. killshot now critting on geared plate for 30k. traps dont land because classes have 100 pets, the only way to land a trap on a moving target is to pet stun first or scatter.

do you understand how bad it feels to send both my killshots and not finish off a target?

demon hunter, warrior, shaman, priest, these classes literally transform into another being entirely and send out insane damage, become nearly immortal for this time, yet you guys think “killshot is too deadly” ??? which one of the devs keeps gettin clapped in a BG please, i really want to know.

ive had it, i keep trying to play this game for years and years but it just isnt fun to ride your rollercoater and im sick of investing my time. its just not fun to play this game anymore because we are always getting nerfed and the most amazing things removed. things are always being taken away and now hunter is left with no big button that feels good, trushot feels like dog to press.

you idiots.

this type of attitude is probably why sales are low and playerbase is dwindling, because we feel like blizz would say the same thing to us. they say the same thing to their employees… its not right and things used to be better. the can be better again, thats probably the only reason guys like me are still hanging on.

Well they dont prioritize balance around pvp. So sales isnt dropping because of how “you” feel about pvp.

what i said is true regardless, i dont post on forums much this is a code red. thanks for making my point even more true captshwann. there is plenty of time to sit around petting corgis and adding them all into the game, and they also do balance pvp so…this comment is a bit null and void. just beacuse they are making changes doesnt mean they are good changes.

I’m kinda sick of MM being a one trick pony, too. No survival, no movement, sit still and hard cast because “that’s what an archer would do :^)”.

I guess horseback archers are too crazy for Blizzard to understand. MM should be the most mobile ranged DPS in the game, or at least have the option to be mobile. Would make PvP fun and engaging, instead of spamming your Steady, Arcane, and Rapid Fire with the occasional proc for aimed (where 90% of your damage is).

Such an amazing concept absolutely trashed by the constant need to be “fair and balanced”. My dude, make the game fun, stop balancing the game around a supposed idea of “fairness” because there is none. Make the class fun, and people will play it, even if the numbers are a little off now and again.

yo we are not about to derail this honest and pure thread with some idea about hunters being horseback riding class. please stay on topic this is about class balance for what is current. if you want to start a new thread please do so.

Mounted archer would be awesome. Something like you can do the full rotation minus aimed shot while mounted, and damage doesn’t dismount until you go below 50% health. Would never happen of course, but really cool idea. I think a lot to the devs are complete book worms who associate fantasy with high magic too heavily. Bm has awesome fantasy, you tame wild beasts, they grow strong under your care, and then you send them into a frenzy by bleeding out the kill target. Surv and mm don’t have the same coherent fantasy concepts. Sv fantasy is some of the most disappointing in my opinion, some specs you can just casually play and dish out awesome coherent fantasy, surv really doesn’t do it for me. MM is too narrow. The person likes to shoot guns. They shoot guns fast, and wait for it, they also shoot guns slow. I’d like to see them combine mm and surv into a ranger themed spec. Basically give mm survs’s utility like mending bandage and make that a regular talent, and give them bombs. In my experience people who like to shoot guns also love to blow stuff up. Then remake the third spec. Many ways they could go with that of course but something like, not my original idea, gadgeteer would cool. A spec that doesn’t have a pet and uses gnomish/goblin engineering to fight. Some of that may be nonsense I won’t defend, but in short I agree mm suffers from a narrow vision for the spec, in part because they named it marksmanship in the beginning and won’t revisit it. Now the devs are imprisoned by this narrow vision, what are the different ways the hunter can shoot the gun? Giving mm some utility beyond shooting a gun would be healthy for spec in my opinion. Also surv has awesome utility like trackers net I wish the rest of the class had.

Wait, horseback archer?

Dont be so quick to dismiss such as awesome idea.

pretty sure thats an awful idea, you can start another thread if you want to talk about turning MM into a vehicle class.

my point still stands, as captshwann so aptly put, the devs nor the players care if others are leaving because they are unhappy. this business also doesnt care if the employees leave because they are unhappy. when i was teenager this probably wasnt such a big deal. now i am 33 years old, i have grown up watching this disaster unfold.

you guys over nerf every single class i play, and its no ones fault but your own. we get nothing for this when it happens. and every day i keep logging in, trying to believe that some single shred of this game will be fun, that the devs will listen, but it doesnt happen. in fact, the most rediculous things happen, warrior priest and warlock as so beyond OP its not even in teh same realm of fair to fight them. and i know the employees are not happy, which makes me realize i am also not happy playing a game they are not happy to make. no wonder its in the state that it is, with everyone sabotaging eachother and no one talking about it.

im done.

Address hunter survivability and talent trees please

Are you new to wow? The devs balance PVE and PVP seperately… They can tune numbers separately so PVE balance doesnt have to effect pvp balance and vice versa

Bastrii’s post did not bring up anything like this. He/she was simply making note of the mechanics of MM, how he/she want us to be more mobile.

They can but they dont

This is indeed what I meant. I was referring to the historic uses of Archery, how it was often done on horseback, and that Archers were quick and mobile. Modern day stunt archery, like Lars does, is a really cool example of just how mobile - and accurate - an archer can really be.

I don’t want horseback archery (thought it would be cool). What I want is for Marksmanship Hunter to have baked in options to achieve mobility, or options to focus entirely on standing still for maximum damage.

Left side of the tree should be AoE, center should be movement/generalist focused, where the core of the class fantasy is, and the right should be hard-casting sit down and turret for raid bosses.

LotWR should fire a few wind arrows 100% of the time, with a tiny chance for double, and Wind Arrows should restore a bit of focus and lower the cooldown for Wailing Arrow. WG should be a proc whenever you cast Aimed Shot: the next Aimed Shot can be cast while moving, you gain movement speed, and you drop a wind feather that an ally can pick up to gain avoidance and a movement speed buff.

Bake Steady Focus into Improved Focus Shot, call it Momentum. Each Steady Shot gives a stack of Momentum, up to 2, and increases haste by 2%/4% each. New stacks refresh the duration. Quality of Life to keep your buff up when you need it, without having to interrupt a rotation for 2 steadies.

Give a Dodgeroll ability that grants a short moment of high damage reduction, a few seconds of low damage reduction, and two charges. It doesn’t interrupt aimed shot or rapid fire, either, and you can’t be stunned during the initial roll animation.

Replace Sharpshooter with Killing Fields. Killing Fields reduces the cooldown of Volley/Salvo by 3 seconds whenever you consume Trick Shots. 1 point talent.

Update Quickload to instead reduce the cooldown of Bursting Shot by 1 second every time you shoot a target afflicted by Bursting Shot, Wing Clip, or Concussive Shot with Chimera, Multi, or Arcane Shot.

Update Lone Wolf to give 10% leech at the cost of a little damage. I will gladly trade 1%-3% DPS for 10% more heals coming in from damage.

And make every third Arcane/Chimera/Multi Shot in a row proc a new talent, Hip Fire. Allows your Aimed Shot to be cast instantly for 50% less focus. Does not grant charges.

Bring back Sniper Training for the sit still playstyle, but give us options to roleplay the core fantasy of being a windrunner, an archer of supreme skill, a quick and nimble kiting class that can swap to a stand still and hard cast turret. Stop with this nonsense that everything must be fair and balanced. Make the game fun and people will stay.

hard pass on all; at that point just bring back double tap and majority of players would be happy with less work and less disruption of the game.

This goes beyond hunters, its the fact that all other classes can do much more and more efficiently than hunters, putting hunters down all the time.

Its very sad and annoying indeed.

Id love to know who this developer is because I bet he’s another class player and his goal is to destroy hunters in all specs.

BM is what I’m playing atm and it sucks lol
SV is what I just can’t grasp and it sucks lol
MM is garbage as is and I can’t stand to go against warrior dk trynna cast aimed shot doing 1 mil damage in a 3s match while they go beyond 4 mil.

Fire this dude, hire spongebob he’ll do a better job.

Double Tap solves 0 issues and just stacks more DPS into Marksmanship. It changed nothing. It did nothing special. It just buffed one round of burst damage. It did not find the class fantasy. It was a one minute cooldown that you can replicate now with a Lock and Load proc at the end of any Aimed Shot cast.

Core changes need to happen to the class. “But muh damage-” the damage is there for the most part. The problem isn’t damage. The problem is in several fields, but it’s not overwhelming damage that’s the issue.

The core gameplay style is clunky and Hunter overwhelmingly brings no utility to raids. Hunter has no sustain. Marksmanship’s sustain without pets is tied to movement and long cooldowns, especially in PvP or just kiting mobs in general.

The class needs to evolve to fit into more modern gameplay. Seriously, you have several nodes that are never pick options in any build. Reinventing them and reorganizing the tree is what can make the class impactful and fun to play again. Not adding in MORE DPS…

Dude I’m not sure why you keep posting the wild ideas about how you want a rework but for the third time you are welcome to start an entirely new thread. I don’t agree with a single idea you share, and also I loved double tap because it turned my rapid fire into a machine gun rather than just semi auto.

It seems like you are another casual player who would be better off playing lotr mmo or everquest. I say this because you don’t understand that double tap created kill windows and was use during win conditions for pvp. Without this ability, hunter has just become a pressure class.

In fact, just this morning I sent killshot on a low target monk and he didn’t even die, again. What type of experience is this supposed to be? It surely isn’t fun.

My money is on a rework for hunter just like Ret got in the near future. MM hunter went from being one of the most popular spec to what it is now. janky… spells are old and out dated.
