The state of decay of "AI"? GM's in WoW

I had an alliance GDKP AQ20- on whitemane - on CLASSIC ERA, seemed to be standard GDKP, as you know that’s the only way to get a quick easy hassle-free raid with the state of the server and economy these days.

Then the Leader ninja’d the gold at the end of it. A certain bad actor- full t2 paladin dwarf healer with a hard to pronounce name rhyming with penguin, a conspicuous name nonetheless…

The raid complains and infact a few have knowledge that this guy has done this before and friends/guildies have heard of him ninja’ing a ZG GDKP loot the day before, obviously not his first time based on the raid’s and guilds and trade / LFG world comments…

So a few of us remaining put in a GM complaint and the response a day later entails:

Greetings, “insert name here!”
This is Game Master “insert name here”.

I am very sorry to hear what has happened. This is definitely not acceptable and is not how players should behave around each other. I have taken steps from my side to investigate the offender: and to take the appropriate actions.

However I bring to your attention our stance regarding GDKP, which you can see here

As a side note, let me tell you that we are thankful to you for being part of our universe!

“A bunch of random scriggly text to convey some sort of message” - Maybe a personal note so I don’t want to indemnify - maybe a bot automated message who knows.

Wishing you an excellent time and exciting, thrilling adventures!
Kind Regards,
Game Master “insert name here”

I do hope they actually did look into the matter but when I am playing on CLASSIC ERA and as such GDKP hasn’t been banned and has become the only real way to play the game, I am only disheartened that either the GM has such little time to actually read the player complaint and actually acknowledge the player / server I am on…

Or the GM’s have been replaced by AI BOTs that actually don’t understand the clientele complaints and blizzard is cost-cutting to the point I am not sure if I want to continue playing the game if people can get away with such terrible deeds when I’m just trying to play the game through GDKP as the community now seems to accept as the norm.

The gms respond with templates only. So it looks like a bot. Its a person speed reading 1000s of tickets and replying as non human as possible. O how much i miss the old blizzard support. It was so awesome back in the day.

If you submitted this on the website I think it is a person looking into it, but your results entirely depend on who gets your ticket. For example, back when I was playing retail a guildie made a mistake with the new crafting system and created the wrong item, wasting his mats and a month of progress. He submitted a ticket and a GM took the wrong item away, restored his crafting mats, and I was able to make him the correct item.

Then about a month later I made the same mistake (it’s an easy one to make when all the icons look the same) so I tried the same thing. Instead of a helpful GM who helped me out, I got a rather frustrating sequence of replies telling me that it was impossible for them to help me and there was just no way for them to restore items from a craft in that way.

This isn’t the only reason I quit retail but it was certainly a contributing factor. Most of the Vanilla bugs were ironed out 18 years ago haha.

Anyway, sorry you lost your gold to a bad egg and that Blizzard support is giving you the run around.

That does look like a template response from someone who doesn’t know about the game.

Saying that I did Microsoft support through email as a job for four years. They started out doing all this “nice” stuff like I got a Kitchenaid mixer and $500 in gift cards over about a year for doing a good job, but then something would change and it was all negativity. I had templates but hand-typed most replies because I like to do that, but the Blizzard support people are probably told to use the templates.

It’s been years since that but some of my old coworkers were working in one of their gaming divisions that had been there for 10+ years and Microsoft just pulled 200 jobs and the location got closed.

Seeing them swap to mostly AI support would not be surprising, you already have to jump through hoops to get to any person and getting to chat support these days is even harder, but yeah in this case I bet it was just someone who didn’t understand the game. Back in the day one of the great parts of this game was the amazing support.

Likely a combination of both; net result is low quality that will cost them more long term than simply employing real humans 100% of the time.

Not to distract from the issue here, but with some of your GDKP comments, you can play on the PvE cluster and never have to GDKP if you’d like. If you want a pvp server though, yeah that’s pretty much your choice.

My guess is they use a combination of both, but your particular reply reads as someone who is outsourced support who is control+f searching support documents for tickets. So if they do that, they’d find the SoD stance on GDKP for classic
