The Staff. Useless!

For fifteen years we’ve had this useless stick on our backs. Fifteen years! I know I can’t be the only one sick to death of flailing my hands about every which way and ignoring my staff. You know, that thing casters are supposed to use to channel their mana into spells.

Why is my staff useless? Why doesn’t it have any spellcasting animations?

Can I have some animations?

Go play classic. You can club mobs with your staff there, I promise you.

I totally agree but I’d also like to take this opportunity to quote this out of context

Did you read anything? It’s like a four sentence post.

I was totally going to fall for this , just got lucky :rofl:

What about when you are using a dagger or a sword? Specialized animations when you use a certain weapon is a lot of extra busy work.

Pretty sure you can point a blade at someone the same way you point a stick.

Bad dog!!!

There’s a medicine for that

Stat stick.

Whew, lots of people don’t read even baby-sized OPs, do they?

You know, I actually agree. It would be cool to see caster’s use their staves and such while casting instead of just using the racial casting animation. I think it would be a cool, though probably a pretty huge undertaking considering all the different weapon types and combos, for Blizzard to do that at some point in the future.

I suppose but then its just pointing a stick, now that sounds too basic! Guess I just don’t get the appeal haha~

My staff is pretty and I want to see it shooting pew pew lasers. :frowning:

I mean, it’s not totaly useless, it’s a good stat stick.

But i think at this point, if were just going to continue not using the staff and just use our hands, why not add in an invisible staff mog?

In before “Why not just unequip it” Well A. Stat sticks, and B. In Blizzard’s Infinite wisdom of tying key abilities to certain weapon types, i wouldn’t put it past them if they ever make something like “Fire Blast requires a two handed staff” in order to use that spell… with your hands mind you… Hence why i suggested invisible mog cause that solution is much more simpler.

Invisible staff mog is also an option. Not the one I prefer, but an acceptable one.

I don’t think each spell has to be fired from a staff, some spells could use the staff as a focus in one hand and the spell in the other.

There are ways to implement staves, and other items, into combat for casters without just using them as a pew pew stick. I feel like Blizzard’s animators could do some fun crazy stuff with caster weapons.

Even something as simple as having your staff float in front of you with casters channeling into it and then the staff firing off the effect, or perhaps your two one hand objects floating around you as you channel or levitate in certain ways.

I feel that, compared to Melee, caster’s have the most potential for doing cool stuff with a weapon in their animations.

I’m fairly sure kitty druids and arms/fury warriors can actually use staves as effective melee weapons (though there are fewer str based staff weapons than I like).
