- You take more damage than a DPS spec.
- You deal less damage than a DPS spec.
- The trash mobs are very often more dangerous than the boss.
#2 I can understand. It’s natural for the spec. On the other hand, 1 and 3 just don’t feel right.

Solo content has never been designed around tank or healer specs. So not sure what you’re expecting.
Tank spec is the only spec I run with when doing solo delves. Brann is my DPS special person running around doing his best. It was the only combo I could do a T11 deathless run with as well. I will admit that sometimes killing mobs takes a little longer than I’d like, but surviving delves is easy as tank.
I can understand why they designed that way, but what I found frustrating about it was that tanks just didn’t feel like tanks. I was not playing the tank in a vacuum, I had other characters to compare the experience against, so tanks felt like a cloth-wearing melee class in delves.
(Disclaimer: I don’t play enough delves to really keep track of all the tuning adjustments that have happened so some of my options may have formed at a particular moment of time that is now obsolete)
Can’t relate. On my tanks, I can go in and pull multiple groups at a time. Delves are really fast because I can do that with very little (if any) downtime. Can’t do that on most dps specs.
But hey, I’m down for reducing mob damage. Just means bigger pulls.
When your gear gets high enough in bear druid, take thrash to 5 stacks, run Brann as dps. I can do most 8s as solo tank in under 7 min and Fungal Folly my record is 3min 30s. Tank seems fine.
Solo tank delves are easy mode. Groups just make it harder. Watch out for shades or spiders spamming ranged bolts and it’s a cake walk.
I ran a bunch of delves as blood when gearing up my DK then when I got a decent weapon I switched to unholy and holy crap it was SO MUCH BETTER.
Delves as a tank is a slow and not fun experience.
…
you can just say you’re bad at tank spec.
Funny thing is it does feel like delves were designed for tank specs because they take little to no damage. DPS with same item level will get demolished. That’s imbalanced. They should have “tuned” each delve to a certain spec but that would take forever.
heres a trick, go in as dps and when you are inside switch to tank spec and win
Maybe if you’re wearing greens or blues, but I take significantly less damage as a tank than as DPS in delves.
I mean, duh. You’re a tank, not a DPS.
True for both roles anyway.
As a solo tank you could still solo T8 delves 40~60 item levels before DPS could comfortably do so.
As guardian druid, my first day hitting 80 was a Monday night and I did four T8 delves at 541 ilvl solo tank to make sure of Tuesday vault.
this really work, it scales off what you load as?
Yep. That’s pretty much what I did on my DK, hit 80, immediately go into T8 delves in tank spec, collect loot.
I will say my 541 guardian was MUCH easier than my 580 prot pally.
Uh?
Are you playing the class right? Because I can’t fathom how this is even possible.
Maybe they mean over time? As in it’s taking so much longer to kill something that they end up taking more damage? I dunno.
Take more damage than dps?
The actual f?
