It’s from the “let’s stuff everything relevant into instanced content” which breeds exclusivity and of course toxicity.
Content should be open world first and foremost. Especially if it rewards power. Players should be free to engage the content if they are present and not be punished for not being selected. Having numerically challenging encounters builds communities and reduces toxicity because you need numbers.
Keep instances for e-sports. Let the guys who want to compete for numbers and world firsts spend their time in the instanced versions of the game. Let everyone else have the MMORPG they should have had from the start.

This is exactly how I feel. I’m 32…
I’m past the age where some dude over Ventrillo is my “friend” nah dude.
My friends are people I can send snapchats to, I hang out with regularly, and people involved in my life.
People I play with online are just other gamers. It’s really hard to get me to care about people and it’s very hard to get me to care about anything in game when the main chat service isn’t even in game.
Why is Discord preferred over gchat I’ll never know.
But if they didn’t exist you would likely find more opportunities for meaningful grouping that currently are harder to come by because LFR and auto grouping have cannibalized potential groupies and guildies.
Blizz just needs to give better tools and incentives for all types of meaningful groups.
This is exactly how I feel about this game now. Not just PvP but everything else as well. I don’t feel like my kind is welcome in Azeroth anymore

I’m not even that old and I’m not a fan of it either, I didn’t like using vent or TS back in the day, and dealing with youngsters in a game is an even worse proposition.

I mean I 100% don’t condone Clark’s posting at all. However, I still remember the friends I made in BC. They were honestly great people. We talked every single day on vent. Yes pre-discord, what a savage world huh? We had each other’s phone numbers. We kept in touch outside of the game. If any single one of those people contacted me today, I’d drop everything to talk to them or help them. I would even come back to wow for them. We lost contact over the years, drifting apart and such. I’ll always hold a special place for those guys.

I am almost level 60 in real life and I don’t want to click or push buttons thousands of time per second. I don’t wish to and I cannot keep up in mythics or raids.
My hand/eye coordination not what it used to be but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying WoW. I just wish the solo player was not left out like with the new mega dungeon being only mythic. Why? Would it be so hard to give us old farts a regular version also?

Oh they probably will, when it’s irrelevant content just like they did with mechagon.

Yep.
In my case it goes even farther back some of my better friends today are people I met on SWG and came over to WoW with. We all met up in Ohio when one of the guys turned 40. The guy I’d call one of my best friends lives hundreds of miles away, we’ve hung out several times. Heck I met my wife on SWG and we got married some time during Wrath, half the guild showed up from all across the US.
MMO’s when they first started were as much about the social as the game. It’s the reason I never could find another guild after some time in Legion because for me I gotta invest in that group of people. I’ve tried it again, probably for the last time in TBC Classic, so far so good.

Mythic Raiders wanted just to raid log and not have to engage in other form of content. That’s why Blizz made WQ rewards so bad and nuke M Plus to the ground. Gotta make Limit and Method happy. I guess.

Very nice. I wish you the best. I’m hoping to find a group elsewhere. I’m on the final part(s) of Shadowbringers and I have my cousin invested in FF as well. I hope we can find a cool group of people to hang out with.

I’m probably going to get a lot of flack for this but here it goes:
BEST IN-GAME ARMOR SHOULD BE CRAFTABLE.
That’s right. We need a CASUAL avenue to obtain BiS gear for those that do not have 100s of hours to dedicate to the HC endgame grind. If we want to grind through a profession to be able to craft the armor, we should be able to.

Over 50, Female .Define Casuals? If I have been playing 17 years almost every day as a (single player). Does that mean I’m am a casual?? I would think Casuals are those in any type of gear, logging onto one night Raiding or Rated PvP is as casual as one can be. I’ve busted my butt for the gear I have on. Yet I am not allowed to get better gear. Even though I am in BG’s with Rated players …This just doesn’t make any sense.

Casual is measured by content type, not game time.
You can have a hardcore player engaging in mythic CN/+ who only logs on 2-3 hours a week if that “raid logging”. They aren’t casuals.
On the other hand you have those who barely (or never) engage with said end game HC content and just dabble in transmog/pet battles/exploration/professions etc.
Those are casual players.
My husband and I did the guild thing , raiding, heroics etc long ago…We both have aged 17 years, and no longer have the gumption to do High End raids . For one I have terrible eye fatigue and he doesn’t like the discord thing. The gear I have on YOU know I have busted my butt for. Yea I trans- mog but the gear and how much time I have spent getting it, speaks for itself… It’s just really frustrating knowing I am not a casual and being grouped into that name.

Reminded me of this old movie.

I agree my friend, the money that could be made with a proper game for casuals would be staggering if done right. I raided original vanilla when I was serious about it, but can only do LFR before SL
I have a few friends who are in the game industry seriously talking about Unreal Engine 5 and nanite-based MMORPG using a crafting system from SWG-Pre Cu but fantasy like Wow. I’m thinking of investing if they do.

exactly!! I feel this so much and I really wish they would divide the game at this point for the solo artist and adventure and worlds first race goers on a different server or something. dungeons and raids should not be a requirement to progress storyline in the game.

Their is more to this than just solo play is dying/dead… it is the fact that elitism has slowly taken over the game. If you don’t have the right gear, right amount of healing or damage and if maybe you are a bit older and are not as twitchy as you once were the elitist want nothing to do with you. Now will they take your gold and money to take you through something… sure, but getting into a raid/mythic without doing that, good luck. I have have seen guilds blow up over elitist and sadly more than once.
