I was a huge Over Watch fan but my passion went away due to the slow reaction from the developers refusing to change GOATs comp… It took them a year to remove it and create role queues… And by the time they did, the game was a shadow of itself.
I asked a couple of friends why they quit. They all responded with GOATs and unkillable tanks. I asked if role queue was enticing enough for them to return and they said no. The game lost its luster for them.
Blizzard took too long to make necessary changes to the game and they fumbled the ball. The entire community was begging for anything to be done about the super comp ruining the game and the devs did nothing but wait… The developers that said ‘hold the course’ cost the company a lot of money and they lost a players base that never returned.
This seems exactly like what blizzard is doing with the current battle grounds in SoD. We have had the lead SoD Developer Josh Greenfield basically say, and I kid you not,
‘You think you want split queues but you don’t’ …
Have they not learned their lesson? Do they need approval from the dinosaurs at the wow team to make changes? I thought this would be a season of fresh thinking and better awareness into what the player base is asking for. They seem lost and unable to move.
The sad part is the changes required are so easy to implement and could be done with little to no manpower. I would love to hear a better response to this than “queues wont pop”… We know they would and will. People would still queue as a party of 5… People would still be on discord playing together… But RAIDS vs Pugs is just BAD GAME DESIGN. So why is this happening?
Maybe they are not listening and dont care… They will make money regardless. Sounds like Bobby has not yet left the building.

Don’t even need separate queues, we need a matching system that simply puts premades into other premades first.
The fact that they haven’t implemented that or even talked about doing that is absurd. The devs themselves must love doing some 10 premades vs. 10 solo queue stomping.

If they are enjoying the current stompage that is WSG while at work would be the saddest thing I can think of for blizzard… Wait…actually, I take that back lol…
It does seem like an odd response since BG queues aren’t numbered.
So, you can’t sit in a call with a bunch on people queuing at the same time solo and just going with the other people who landed on your game if you had enough to fill it.
That is already gone. Why can’t they add the queue split? Or a “matchmaker”(it doesn’t need to be that crazy) to see a team and another team.
But doesnt think sound like ‘You think you want it but you dont’?
Do you really think queues would not pop? I dont think so. Or if they made it party queue only many problems would go away and they could keep the social aspect of pvp intact.
I’m not talking about separate queues though (if his other posts talk about it, I can’t see, I don’t have an account).
Same queue system, just that the system will attempt to put premades against each other first (and fallback to normal matching quickly when this isn’t possible).
He acts like this is some niche dead mmo with like 1000 players total, which is weird. There isn’t even arenas or rated battlegrounds in classic, world pvp or BGs are the only options.

What do I think? I think a lot of people don’t queue for bgs for three reasons: the amount of bots, twinks, and getting stomped by premades.
If twinks fought other twinks (like was the case in original Wrath), a lot more people would queue for battlegrounds. Similarly, if premades fought premades I think a lot more people would queue. And hire some damn GMs to police the game. The bots are absurd.
I think the Classic team are utterly incompetent and have no grasp of what’s going on in the game. Or they don’t care.

And to add, his post doesn’t really make sense.
If there is a large enough community that “live for” 10-man premades, then why would it matter if they had separate queues? People post their solo queue records here all the time, and they go like 8 - 42 with almost every team being a premade, meanwhile the team they are on is all pugs.

I am lost for clarity on this as well… I dont understand he response at all. I wish they would elaborate more on why they refuse to implement changes the majority of the player base is requesting.
I saw Scottyjay say he thought the communication has been great. I beg to differ.

I was high gold/low platinum. Did you play during the GOATs meta? Nobody liked it… Especially the pro players. Did you like playing GOATS, everyone I know hated it. What did you enjoy about the comp? What did you main?
