The silence is astonishing

Blizzard didn’t say or do anything about the devilsaur stuff in the beginning. Why would they say anything about the Scarab Lord stuff? At least in the case of Ahn’Qiraj, it IS meant to be a cross-faction effort to get the gates open.

as many as it takes moroon

You are clearly winning this war on collusion.

You are clearly winning this war on collusion.

he is.
u ain’t.

I remember Tseric and felt some sympathy for him when he had his meltdown on the forums.

His problem was that Blizzard doesn’t handle forum toxicity and trolling in the manner that they ought to.

Being toxic or trolling back on the EJ forums 16 years ago used to get people’s posts commented on by a mod…and if a poster had a pattern of behavior their account got actioned.

Now they hardly moderate at all.

I sympathized with Ghostcrawler when he interacted with the community and tried to interface more. The high point of WoW for many people was TBC/LK and Cata was definitely a departure from LK in that Heroic 5 man’s were really quite punishing/unforgiving compared to ToC and ICC 5 man heroics. There was a lot of backlash to the difficulty increase in Cata…which was not just a return to TBC difficulty but a level or two above it.

Comparatively, Ion has rarely engaged with the community up until Shadowlands beta (where it became apparent they’d pay dearly if they stuck to the usual ivory tower developer model).

It’s o.k. to have disagreements over design philosophy or to not engage on every issue the player base brings up. You can’t please everyone or spend all your time interfacing with the games community.

Not communicating at all and ignoring obvious problems has always been behavior that frustrates not just customers…but other people in general.

I dont feel entitled to always be responded to, but it is rude to not respond at all and it sets the tone for a relationship going forward.

The dev team has (for multiple expansions and most of Classic) not responded much if at all and has behaved in a fashion that suggests the quality of player experience is not as important as getting higher /played metrics and cash grabs (ie. Paid services and store mounts) out of their community.

Ion did an interview with Preach recently on Shadowlands. During that interview, Ion admitted the Azerite power system had obvious and significant problems even early on the team was aware of.

However, they basically left the system in a broken state for most of the expansion and only introduced QOL changes to improve the experience very late into the expansion despite being aware if the problems.

That’s a hard pill to swallow for a player base…Ie. Dev god who has the power and agency to improve the system simply chooses not to.

It’s why I quit early on in WoD and didn’t return until Classic. I figured their attitude would remain largely as it had in Classic, and generally held low expectations for the devs on it.

It’s really a toss up as to whether I’ll give TBC or Shadowlands a shot.

They replaced it with a bunch of deliberately-vague talk about taking action against things that disrupt game experiences, etc. Basically general rules they can decide mean anything they want when they want it.

Dealing with customers is hard?

I guess that’s why they call it work and pay people to do it.

Same.

Good post.

That’s what I said lol

It’s unfortunate when players ruin the game for others.

Imagine being sweaty in this old game filled with old people

Retail is basically beta testing for Classic.

LoL…what skill is involved mindless killing the same mobs over and over for the same drop?

What skill is involved when you compensate the opposite faction to remove any of your competition?

None…

It’s not their job to be punching bags for the community. Your $15 only entitles you access to the servers, nothing else.

Don’t twist what I said.

/yawn

Let me know when you come up with a thought of your own to share.

Anybody else literally abhauled, astonished and mortified by the current events in Silithus?

Any mount-off-enthusiasts in shambles?

Hopefully.

The might go outside or read a book, or even get a job.

Just glad I didn’t make any meaningful investment in Classic as the community has devolved into savages as predicted.

I happily colluded. Not all players can be reasoned with. The opposing faction may be able to kill you but your own can spit and abuse you without feeling remorse or the ability to work with you instead of against.

I have no regrets with making a temporary truce with opposing faction players to remove problematic players from the area.
