I really like pathfinder in theory. In theory, having some time to let everyone experience the world of the ground is great. Getting to see everyone on their ground only mounts, navigating terrain, seeing people running around, is a fresh change of pace.
I also really like flying, and after a few months I feel like it’s appropriate to pop the cork and let us take to the skies.
In practice, I really dislike the pathfinder grinds. Specifically, the rep grinds are just very long, and it’s VERY punishing of people who take breaks during the expansion, which leads to people not wanting to come back to play (like a few of my personal friends) who realize that they’re the only people still running around on the ground doing world quests.
I think that they just need to make unlocking flying be super simple - like finish the main story or just doing a short questline, and still release it a few patches in.
Also a lot of people are just downright confused by the achievement system and just figuring out what has to be done to get flying is itself a big hurdle.

Never thought I’d see someone who supports timegating

A lot of people do not like flying. A lot of people like flying. Letting both parties get to enjoy WoW for half the expansion is a good thing, and for many of us who enjoy both we get to have it both ways.
The only problem with pathfinder is the grind to get it, the idea of only unlocking flying after a few months of getting people to see the new expansion from the ground is solid.
Also, there’s no reason this post should be flagged. It’s just an abuse of the reporting system.

NO. Flight at Max level for each toon, done. If you don’t want to fly don’t, wait 6 months, but don’t force your play style on others.
Stop trying to give in the single dev that has created this hate any more room and approval.
There is NO compromise, we were never talked with about flying, we were talked at and told by a single dev that eventually got caught in a lie and they had to give us flying back.

I actually agree with Ion that designing the world for both flying and ground is way too hard, and that ground travel is what the game is designed for. I’m even more convinced after experiencing the worms in vale and uldum, which were not fun and just annoying.
If you took a strawpoll, most players will vote for whatever makes their lives the easiest, but not necessarily what will actually be the most fun. I’m excited to experience SL on the ground, just not do the rep grinds.
Well it appears you are trolling. Flying has been discussed to death and you know that.
If you don’t like to fly then don’t. But you don’t get to force your play style on others.

Time gating is just lazy game design, and at least for me, the more time gates, the less time I subscribe to the game.

The thread isn’t about flying, it’s about removing the rep grinds associated with pathfinder. You’re right, they aren’t going to remove pathfinder from the game, and so you should support making the grind less bad.
The only thing wrong with pathfinder is the part two and the wait of nearly a year to have it available.
And this thread is indeed about flying. It’s not Sunday.

No, it really isn’t. I’m not asking for a change to how flying is added to the game. I am asking for the rep grinds to be removed from pathfinder. Flying stays at the status quo.
Stop trying to tell me what my thread is about.
There is nothing wrong with making people see things from the ground in a new expansion for a time but months is rediculous . Having it open at max level is fine.
Thing is by the time most reach max level in an expansion they have seen all the zones and have completed the loremaster and explorer cheevos. Which should be and have always been the only requirements for PF along with reaching max level .
Anything other then those 3 have just been a way to keep people logging in to inflate their numbers for their investors.

That is never going to happen. The game is designed for ground gameplay, flying is an awesome bonus that should happen later in an expansion cycle. When flying is available WoW becomes a whole different experience.
I absolutely hate pathfinder but I’m with the devs on timegating flying.
Time gate for what ?
By the time I got flying I had already gotten 3 toons to 120 and had completed part 1 ten months prior to getting flying in July 2019.
What more did I need to see on the ground for those 10 months that I didn’t already see?
If you go Naz or Mecha , well those could of had their own with part 2 and part 1 could of opened flying only for Zan and Kul.

Flight wasn’t an issue until Ion and friends made it one.

This is an invalid argument. By forcing BOTH sides to stay grounded you’re only pleasing the anti-flight side, while allowing flight the anti-flight people are still free to not fly while the pro-flight people can fly. And don’t tell me you’re the kind that believe that the anti-flight people can’t enjoy things if other people are flying because that’s a bs excuse.

So you personally benefit from this extended period on the ground by because it entertains you seeing other people stuck on the ground and tripping over roots and pebbles.

Not everybody plays at your pace.
PvP either stops happening or turns into divebombers against no flyers
Professions that rely on gathering have boosts
Lots of things happen when flying is enabled. It was great when it was purchasable by gold, but since the economy went bonkers that’s the way they found to balance it out.
