Doesn’t that seem like a gamble since there is no real reason to play BFA? Throw your money in this machine and you might…you just might get beta, but we will absolutely get your money.

getting a beta key was like a super lottery unless you’re a streamer. the sub each month is for a chance to get into the stress tests. tryn’ get 3 full months of sub out of people before the game even release

I understand why all these players are boycotting the streams. A lot of these streamers didn’t even play back then. It’s slap in the face to the players who did.
I really want to invite you guys to consider how unhealthy this kind of attitude is.
The Classic dev team has been straightfoward about all this stuff. The community has been asking for years to beign back Classic and now we are getting that. However the blizz devs need a few things.
I resubbed, I did not get into the beta. I am fine with this. Not going to cancel.
The question I want to invite you guys to ask is “How can I contribute to making this successful?”
I agree its a shady practice, but they tell you before hand so its really up to you to decide what you want to do about it.
Personally, I think you should start a pserver account and just enjoy classic that way. you can get a good idea for what class you want to main.
Well, you “need” an active sub, unless you’re a streamer - or a friend of a streamer. Then you get in even if you have never played WoW before.

All I’m saying is that this is differen’t. They can still send out beta invites and if people sub to play they still got their answer. It’s also far less shady this way.
I have contributed for years telling them every expansion the game is getting worse. Only vanilla players listened. I even unsubscribed from the game because I no longer supported the game, the same as my IRL friends and in-game friends. I made numerous posts throughout the years in an attempt to help the game and was heard out quite often. I can say that I’ve already had a positive contribution to the release of classic WoW.
So what can I do now? keep commenting, call out the shady stuff like I’m doing. I don’t have any access to the game so I can’t make bug reports, I can only help from the sidelines.
How the hell is this shady? You aren’t paying for a chance to get into the beta, you’re paying for a subscription to the retail WoW experience up to legion with the added benefit of being able to participate in stress and beta tests. You didn’t get classic for free back then, nor will you now.

I do agree with your point on private servers, those servers are seriously undervalued.
its clear this person doesn’t want to play retail, yet you bring up that he is getting retail for his subscription when all he wants to do it beta test classic.
It’s a complete gamble.
They’ve come out and said if your subbed strictly for the beta invite and can’t enjoy BFA to think about canceling your sub because chances are slim to none on that invite.
I know that’s all he wants to do, im just pointing out that comparing it to a slot machine is inadequate because beta invited are just a bonus of a sub, if that makes sense.

No beta here and no luck stress testing. Good thing I have private to figure out exactly the role i want to play.

I think there were streamers that got invited yesterday that didn’t ever play WoW or didn’t have an active subscription and still got chosen.
