The "Sha Mount Drop Chance Isn't High Enough!" Whining Is a Prime Example of A Huge Issue Within the Community

Silly bug that let Evokers get MoP world boss mounts more easily led to a community outcry. Ok, fair, the community wanted action or a response.

Blizzard responded by buffing the heck out of the drop rates so everyone has a reasonable chance at them now. Many of us, including myself, are super appreciative and actually will get back to farming these now.

Meanwhile, a vocal crowd across different venues, including here, continues to voice their displeasure with rude remarks like “ya like .0000000000001% right thanks blizz” or “it’s not 100%? quit wasting my time!”

Want to know why Blizz is often not motivated to act on our feedback? It’s simple.

No matter WHAT they do, some vocal petulant child crowd is going to try to degrade the developers and shoot down everything they do.

Criticism is valid when it’s appropriate. But whining when things are actually made better, because the changes didn’t match your unrealistic “give me free loot” expectations? Quit the whining and give credit where it’s due.

Thank you Blizzard for buffing the MoP world boss mount drop rates. A lot of us actually appreciate the things you do to make the game better.

Agreed I am actually shocked the buffed the drop rate. Current year Blizz usually just ignores things like this.

do we know this for sure? All the hotfix said was “Greatly increased drop chance” or something like that.

they didn’t define “greatly”

It’s to be expected, it’s the classic give them an inch and they try take a mile approach. I’m happy with the change we got.

Buffed drop rate? Where is this info at? I must have missed the announcement.

It was in recent patch notes. It said the drop chance’s of the world bosses are “greatly” increased, whatever that means.

ahh ok, I see it on wowhead too, thx.

As I already said before,

Devs didnt listen, it was a response to the Evoker’s bug… The community provided feedback on these mounts for years and the CC forums too. So, it feels bad for players that got it after thousands of attempts previously.

We need more improvements on legacy content because Devs want to provide a better game, not because a bug. IMO.

Also, I hope Devs learned something about RNG and frustrating gameplay.

Hate the game, not the player.

Good luck to everyone.

If they didn’t listen then they wouldn’t respond. This is exactly the kind of thing I’m talking about.

We’ve feedback about this since CC was created, there’s a whole post by a CC member about RNG…the feedback has been here but It seems like a bug was the breakpoint…that my POV about the situation, maybe negative but that’s my criticism.

I’ll provide you a good example of Devs changing a low drop via feedback:

We didn’t need a bug, Devs just listen to the feedback about low % items for the meta achievement and provided an update to a meta achievement from BFA during SL.

The devs could’ve just completely ignored the Sha instance, but instead they listened. I don’t see the comparison.

I hope an unspoken rule over there if you are a dev is “don’t read the forums” or else being a dev there has to be such a downer of a job.

I know that you don’t see it…Mechadone didn’t have any bug, it was just players providing constant feedback and Devs taking that into consideration for improvement…We did the same for years about these mounts, now it’s difficult at least for me to say, well this was because they took our feedback into consideration and not the bug issue as a breakpoint to trigger these updates.

I normally don’t agree with your stances, but this one is an exception. I like that they buffed the dropped chance. Instead of farming for another 30 years, hopefully I can get it in 5, saves a lot of time, lol.

I for one, appreciate the increase in chance at the mounts. I took 2 toons over there and ran them yesterday & today…and will continue until I get lucky. So I have to say thank you, as well…as I dont think I have 15 yrs worth of stamina on all my toons, hoping to get them…I will give up on it…lol, as it is, I only go do it when I remember to, lol.

I am a mount collector, and while the ‘idea’ is nice of everything being 100% drop rate…it’s not really a viable option…if we got everything every single time it was offered, on the 1st try, they would literally have to spend every waking moment trying to create more for us to collect/hunt, so we don’t run out of things to do.

I DON’T like the TLPD thing, but it is what it is, I wont complain, and maybe 1 day, I will get lucky on my random log in to that parked toon, and it will just magically be there for me…who knows…maybe not…either way, I will live just fine, and find other things to collect

I’m annoyed they didn’t give an actual %.

“Greatly increased” from 0.00001% is still like 1%.

I dunno, never cared to farm them as they felt like a waste of time. I will do them all for a month or so but if I don’t see drops, i’m giving up again.

Yes, it COMPLETELY took the “bug” for them to actually adjust the drop rate to something more realistic! We have asked for it for years now without any sort of adjustment from Blizz.

It 100% took a bug for them to take action, feedback had ZERO to do with it.

The MoP mount drop rate looked more of a running joke amongst a very small crowd and was very seldom ever discussed. Perhaps the devs simply didn’t understand how it was actually affecting players until the feedback provided from the back. That’s not out of the realm of possibility whatsoever.

Exactly, now how much time it will take other things? like SL paragons, necroray eggs, the Siege of orgrimmar skip requested a lot on these forums

This is hyperbolic nonsense, they could have buffed the drop chance from 0.05% to 0.1% and without clarification on what “greatly” means, we’d never know, because they’re always so shady when it comes to disclosing drop chances of things.
