People don’t seem to understand that it wasn’t nerfs that happened to BM, it was the destruction of BM as a class in SOD. Essentially the only clickable rune for BM has been made largely useless. The pets were not nerfed reasonably. They were nerfed out of existence or nearly. If you have to make hotfixes that remove 90% - 50% of the damage done, you already screwed up. Maybe the forums are too much, maybe the devs should have done their work. If you had, why are you making such drastic and hastey changes that undermine the enjoyment and essentially just make the BM hunter classic. This is mismanaged and as someone who came back for this, sadly, it reminds me why I left.
Honestly it makes no sense why they needed to remove the ability for Lightning Breath to scale with Kill Command instead of just making Kill Command modify the base damage of the ability before attack power scaling, and then reverting it to being after if they underperform in higher level brackets. It adds additional complexity that doesn’t add depth it just punishes players.
Hunter “mains”(fotm bandwagoners) are the literal worst
Still tippytop tier in pve and pvp yet still endlessly complain as if they are suffering from these nerfs

I played Hunter to level cap in era. My first class was Warlock the draw to Hunter is as simple as “pet micro and chain pulling is fun”

Honestly I don’t disagree with that. I don’t see that being the solution they go with, but there seems to be a lot of spaghetti code to work out in regards to pet design and temporary damage modifiers. I’ve been nervously joking about broken STV gorillas since all the adjustments but I guess I don’t have to worry about that with it being explicitly Claw/Bite now

Buffing everything else up to the absurd lvl hunter is at will do nothing but destroy the balance of the game for both pve and pvp
Endless power creep is NOT a sustainable approach.
In base classic classes are already too powerful after AQ and naxx, the damage people do far out scales the HP players are capable of having, and most bosses in the game can be absolutely facerolled to the point where their mechanics are completely ignored or are irrelevant.
The “no nerfs only buffs” mentality some people have towards “balance” is almost never the correct approach in a multiplayer game

It makes sense that Hunters are OP low level. Their pet is a second character. Even at its lowest form it’s still very good at being a meat shield, a distraction… You’re never sure what to do? Kill the pet? Get stunned by the hunter. Kill the hunter get stung by the pet….
You forgot to add that hunters aren’t invited to those raids because this doesn’t hold true for them.

many of the hunters would probably gladly have gone down other paths if they actually had good runes… they could have beef’d up marks or surv, maybe have a rune for marks that allows a follow up aimed shot (double tap) or maybe in surv tree a rune to allow while in combat, place traps or have 2 traps out at once
Doomers like this guy make it even worse. Pet normalization is a good thing. Pets should not be three shotting other players in pvp. They also shouldn’t be the best tanks or make up 60% of your entire damage. Bringing them in line to make the class balanced is a good thing.
The main issue is that blizzard has no idea what to do with hunters. Our runes are general damage increases and boring while other classes get new abilities that change how they play. There there is no gameplay changes outside them trying to shove melee hunter down our throats. Phase 2 they need to bring some better runes or there really will be riots. I don’t care about the nerfs I just want to play a fun class that has options outside of just “oh do 10% more damage” runes.

And a naxx geared hunter absolutely nukes everything but warriors and pallys.
As for pve damage, your proposal to just buff every class up to be equal with the highest performing class does nothing but absolutely trivialize PvE content and effectively tunes the entire game to be retail LFR difficulty across the board
It makes zero sense to buff a majority of the classes and all of the PvE content in the game to “balance” the game instead of just nerfing the few outliers that are grossly over performing.
People with a “only buffs never nerfs” mentality to balance just have monkey brains that get dopamine from seeing big numbers and don’t care about actual balance
If you’re still top dps it doesn’t matter if the number on your screen is 100 or 500, it’s all relative to how everyone else is doing. The problem is that PvE is at a static difficulty, buffing everyone just makes that static difficulty get outpaced and throws away any challenge
I wish they would let us keep our beefy pets but let us specialize into it. The fact that you can have kill command + beast mastery both engraved is one of the biggest issues. Having the ability to regen focus plus make your pet beefy plus have it do extra damage is obviously not going to balance well. Let us have the beefy pet but make us really invest into it - separate runes for taunt, health, and focus regen and put kill command in the same engraving slot as the focus regen. No one is going to take a hunter as a MT but let us play with our pets as an asset not an accessory.
they don’t have any competent programmers left all they can do is some basic garbage changes. instead of addressing the actual problem they just implement sweeping changes. they either don’t know how or are too lazy to change something like this in the way you are describing
Yeah, you should have 4k hp pets and your pets should be able to sit and kill clothies in seconds while you still blast away…makes total sense…to…a…hunter.
I love the ‘don’t nerf X-class’ just buff everything else’ crowd.
