I just have to say I think it’s about time we have a new “main” city. Since for the longest as I remember Stormwind has been the base of all activity and we have neglected the other cities at our disposal on the Alliance side. I’m so sick and tired of everything originating with SW. Can we not at least rotate each of the main Alliance hubs as the base of operations for each expansion. I would love to be based out of Ironforge, which received so much love during Vanilla but hardly has been updated since then. I frequently jump on my mage just so I can easily teleport there and look at the design and everything.
Sorry to end the rant but this has been bugging me for the last couple expansions as you are forced to basically use SW rather than the others.
I get where you are coming form, but this is 100% a player generated issue. People gravitate to patterns, and people made a pattern early on to always hang in the “main” cities Org / SW.
It also takes development time, just to achieve a more fractured and empty world. Having everyone transact in 1-2 main hubs helps the immersion of MMO to continue.
With that being said… aside from Portal Rooms, most cities are close to the same. And pre-BfA UC was just as busy as Org any given day, and IF was just as occupied as SW for Alliance.
I’d argue that there really isn’t anything holding you back from feeling like to HAVE to be in SW at all.
Nah I call cap on that. Stormwind and Orgrimmar have all the portals and every recent expansions has had the main hub with a portal strictly to one of those. Choosing another city as your main hub puts extra steps for little reason.
We’ll just be getting complaints about how everyone has to go to X City during Y Expansion instead of developers taking some actual initiative and making the faction cities a necessary part of the game.
By “vanilla” you mean the Cataclysm portals? Those are separate in SW as well.
Org has 2 floors of portals all in the same place that take you to every expansion.
And again, saying you “come back” to Org is a stretch. You just portal to the portal room. You don’t even have to leave the portal room to traverse anywhere.
The Cataclysm Portals are honestly… not that useful for anything other than maybe go to Firelands quicker if you are still farming that raid.
Again, I understand where people are coming from.
But it’s not an issue AT ALL to stay in any other capital, if that is what you want.
I’d argue that even Org/SW makes no sense since really where you want to be is Dornogal.
Everyone complains whenever the expansion hub doesn’t have an auction house.
Nah I meant Darnassus, Exodar and Ironforge, though upon further thinking, I believe they are some ways away as well, involving taking a boat or two or a tramway, unless that changed since I last was alliance.
World of Warcraft players are super lazy and entitled. Even in next update they’ll all get D.R.I.V.E Rascals because their player character to fat to even walk.
Don’t even. Silvermoon has been completely and utterly irrelevant since it was released. If anything it’s been more of a hinderance than a utility so if there is any city that should get an updated concept, it’s mine. Though, I believe that’s happening in Midnight.
I somewhat understand your point. You will see more love for the humans because that is where the HQ is basically.
But it sure makes for a lot more continuity to keep the HQs as Humans vs Orc than any other racial combo. I’m playing a void elf and still I don’t want to see everyone have to portal in and out of Telogrus Rift.
With that said almost everything I need I can get to from Dornogal right now. It’s mostly events/etc that take me out.
I use to advocate for every racial capital being updated with the same amenities as SW and Org. With Valdrakken and Dornogal tho they’ve made great strides at making the current expansion’s city have everything we need so I don’t see much of a point anymore.
I am curious to see what they’ll do with Silvermoon City in Midnight as I’m not convinced it’s going to survive the introduction of the expansion. Would be nice to see her in 2025 updated graphics.
Not only that, but as far as I know most of the other cities do not have things like Auction Houses. So yeh, you can use a lot of the cities but for the longest time you were still shoved back into your faction’s capital to shop.
Mind you they are moving away from that now. Valdrakken and Dornogal both have markets, and they are better for it.
