The righteous Scarlet Crusaders have had their good name besmirched, and dare I say demonized, for far too long now. What did these good people do to deserve such hatred? Let’s find out.
Declared a holy and just Crusade to wipe Undeath off the face of Azeroth
Dared to proclaim independence for themselves as the survivors of Lordaeron, disregarding the illegal and false claims of the Undead to the kingdom
Declared war on the barbarian savages of the Horde for their evil ways and support of the Undead
I ask you, dear reader, in what way were the Crusaders an evil faction? I would argue their only crime was not detecting the Dreadlord at the top of their organization, but they can hardly be faulted for being deceived by such a masterful being as Balnazzar. I believe it’s time the Warcraft community accepts that the Crusaders were wronged, not only by the Undead or by their traitor prince Arthas, but by the entire world. These brave survivors were vilified and used as training fodder by unwashed bands of pillagers masquerading as ‘heroes’ and ‘adventurers,’ certainly lured to Scarlet territories by avaricious rumors of treasure spread by the Undead to destroy their holy rivals.
The Scarlet Crusade did nothing wrong. They sought only to liberate their country from the ravages of plague and Undeath, and for this they were condemned by the world, and the forces of the Horde and Alliance fell upon them in the midst of their righteous work. As the ages pass, history will remember that the cause of the Crusade was just, and we ourselves were the villains.
Who can you trust when the Undead hide themselves in plain sight amongst the other factions of Azeroth, and parade their streets freely and openly? Our association with the Undead was enough justification for their holy war.
To be fair we have a whole myth about the first humans being swayed by a Serpent.
Which is like… probably even more embarrassing. Like you should at least be suspicious of a talking snake. A dude who’s hiding as a human is harder to detect.
They let themselves be blinded to the real threats, had completely dysfunctional and downright evil leadership (no, not just the Dreadlords, Mograine Jr. sold out his dad for power of his own free will), and in the end, failed miserably.
No matter what justification they started with, the sane ones bailed out and formed the Argent Dawn, and the rest went to hell. An impressive feat in a the zombie infested ruins of a post-apocalyptic defunct kingdom, but they found a way to make things worse.
