It’s especially worse on PvP servers due to the mass amounts of collusion. Now the past day or 2 there have been guilds falsely mass-reporting other players to remove them as competition by getting them suspended for no reason through the automated system.
And then on the War Effort side, you have guilds harassing/griefing other players that are working together to donate materials because they want to delay its completion in order to farm more mounts.
I don’t know what it is about Classic that brings out the worst in people, but the toxicity just gets worse every phase.

I play on a few, but the worst is definitely Faerlina.
I was just curious, I play on Deviate Delight and Grobbulus and none of these problems seem to be happening on either. On Grob, I’ve seen one alliance and horde guild colluding, and I’m not supposed to name them here, but they are just two guilds so they only have so much power, but other than that everything seems normal and how it’s supposed to be on both servers.
Honestly, toxicity in competitive multi-player games have always existed and is somewhat expected. I still remember talking smack to my opponents when playing the original Mortal Kombat at the arcade…
But THIS level of toxicity is just insane. It’s crazy how fast the game has changed into what we see now. I still remember players forming lines to complete a quest… that close knit community feeling is gone. Now it feels like I’m playing my hardcore D2 character, doing meph runs in an open game when suddenly a player joins, hostiles me instantly and my game freezes. I then reload it to a dead character. That’s the level of toxicity I’m seeing with this event…

The toxicity is mostly in Silithus, right?
So just avoid Silithus and don’t bother with Scarab Lord.
It’s a pointless endeavor anyways.

The War Effort is not just contained to Silithus. It’s a major event that effects the entire server, in every zone and the economy.
It isn’t really on grob…I’ve been out there the last few nights farming with RWT and HoL and we’ve been having a blast. A certain try-hard guild that carries a hilarious parody guild around is up to their usual nonsense, but they can’t single handedly ruin the event, fortunately.

There was always the chance somebody would knock your teeth in if you took it to far in the arcades. That’s not the case online. People are free to embrace their worst selves without consequences.

That’s not how it works. Only squelches are automatic, you can’t suspend someone from the game by mass reporting them. No action is taken against accounts unless a GM reviews it.

It is not classic, but rather those that were gifted access to this second game with their retail sub. IMHO, YMMV.
RCR turned into weapon fast. We warned blizzard it would.

Agreed, I think a lot of the toxic junk we have in classic is from people who joined for classic and brought private server junk with them.

A big problem is resource scarcity. When you have a server with the population density of faerlina there just simply aren’t enough mobs to fuel the number of people trying to farm them. if the bug spawn rates were quintupled during this event it would feel more like a war instead of the extermination it currently is.

It isn’t a problem on Mankrik. Horde have already completed their war effort, waiting on Alliance. And only the top few guilds are even bothering to try for Scarab Lord, because it is an unholy hell of a grind.
