The Scaling Within

Level 70/71 characters doing several times more damage than anyone 74+ is ridiculous. I rarely get a chance to use my abilities. Bosses are dying in seconds.

And the stat squish - getting haste on every single piece of gear and looking at 10% haste.

There’s a lot to like about War Within, but man these two things are a disappointing way to start out.

Dragonflight did this as well. It’s a strange way to do things and it does make normal difficulty a total joke.

Completely agree.

Sadly this has become the norm.

Scaling is out of control. I hope the scaling gets fixed sooner rather than later.

it pains me alot, the game just feel worse, I leveled up just to get weaker, im thinking about taking a time away until 11.1

Yeah scaling is whacky, but once u get to like 560 ilvl its okish

The scaling once you hit level cap has been bad for ages. Since at least BfA. But yeah the content you’re supposed to be doing at 80 when you first hit the cap feels like garbage.

They won’t fix it. It’s pointless anyway, everyone is gonna level up and at some point there won’t be many max levels running leveling dungeons. So put up with it a little.

my main who was a warlock, was at around 77 when I went into a dungeon, literally could not even keep up to so much as drain life an enemy or boss.
And then on my second run through with a veng demon hunter, at lvl 71 ran a dungeon, I came out with a total of 36.5 million damage, and that was almost 80% of the total damage done out of the entire group.
scaling big broken.

At that point you’re not really playing a game. Even carnival games are more involved. You’re more like an audience member clapping when the sign lights up.

Scaling in leveling dungeons has worked this way a couple of expansions now. It’s silly, but it’s also a very temporary issue because people will only be doing leveling dungeons for a small period of time, and then won’t ever touch them again.

It’s done so that you end up a wet behind the ears freshman when you ding 80, which creates the need to gear up. It creates the weakness that provides the incentive to gear (the need to gear, really), because the game makes you weak to start at 80. That’s very intentional, and it’s been like that since forever, so I doubt that will change, and I also doubt that Blizzard cares very much about what people experience in leveling dungeons. The scaling in leveling dungeons is silly, yes, but it’s also temporary.

Blizzard addressed this very complaint, in fact it was so on the nose it felt like they read my post, but somehow I doubt they peruse General.

Following this update is an outcry of people up in arms about how unfair it is that people in early access get more time with being OP while leveling.

I understand why people are upset, and perhaps there could’ve been a better way to go about it - by getting ahead and nerfing it before EA, or by letting regular subs get more time with it.

But man I’m glad it’s being addressed. It’s a real bummer to get these new abilities, new gear, and your first impression is for it be so much worse that it barely registers when low levels wearing DF gear show up (which is most of the time).

And to those who said yeah it sucks but just give it time because it’ll pan out, yeah that’s valid.

Either way I’ll be the minority on this and say thank you, Blizz.
