The Sacred Flame: The greatest curve ball that blizzard can do

Can we get this topic back on topic about the Arathi Empire, instead of obsessing over a character nobody but one person defends or talks about constantly?

I already explained it, you just denied it without giving an argument.

I just listed some of the impacts.

Alleria would’ve been overwhelmed by the Void during Legion without Locus-Walker’s help, so it was relevant.

Except for the time Xal’atath manipulated her into shooting near Ansurek, which gave away hers, Anduin’s and the PC’s presence to the entire city, for one.

Because she had a right to make a “no Void on my warship” rule and enforce it.

Pot, meet kettle.

Even the Arathi of Hallowfall seem more accepting of shadow magic than the Kirin Tor, and they have more reason to hate it. There was no strong resistance to Alleria, Shadow Priests or Void Elf PCs (one of my alts is a Void Elf Shadow Priest. You’d think the Arathi would have something to say about that… but nope! Let the Void infused elf play with our orphans!)

It went out of wack because a lot of people just want Scarlet Crusade 2.0.

And they can’t stand that some people don’t want Scarlet Crusade 2.0 or even gasp a heroic religious nation that aren’t a joke or worfed.

But like, these Arathi only been seperated from the mainland for a little over a decade and they’re FAR from being zealots. Maybe the constant attacks humbled them, but I doubt it. Infact the constant attacks should’ve REINFORCED it, yet we see none of it

We know the Empire is mistrustful of outsiders, probably for good reason. But I have seen NOTHING to suggest they’re fanatics

Tell that to the fans wanting these Arathi or the Arathi Empire to be Scarlet Crusade 2.0.

Exactly what many people stated in this thread but you got a lot of folks going “NO, LIGHT ZEALOTS!” and it keeps going down after that.

Those people are boring and likely won’t listen to reason anyway. Another Hur dur, me slaughter everyone because me religious is such a tired trope that needs to die

They need to stop dunking on religious people in my opinion

Like I said in another post, people here really think this is Warhammer when it isn’t. The Light doesn’t make you into zealots, it actually does the opposite. That is why the scarlet crusade was such an outlier and why they are iconic. Because they are not the norm.

You start turning every light based religious people into zealots and it is no longer special, it just becomes the trope.

For Warhammer, it is fine because it directly goes against the Emperor’s wishes. That is how far HUMANITY HAS FALLEN. That is the sweetness of Warhammer.

But this isn’t warhammer. This is Warcraft. Vastly different lore and feel.

I mean, in Warhammer, EVERYTHING and EVERYONE are genocidal maniacs. There are no good guys in Warhammer, which is why it works so well in that setting

You just have the Bad Guys and the WAAAY WORSE factions battling it out

This is some weird lying. You never explained how death to imprisonment isn’t a big compromise if you believe in redemption, because I just made that point before you said wrong with nothing else. You didn’t even explain how death to imprisonment is a big compromise either, just that you think it is.

And my response is they aren’t actually impacts, they just seem like them. They don’t actually impact her.

The imprisonment was after that.

You mean when Anduin screwed up the shot? And then we got out just killing spiders anyway?

But why is that relevant to me thinking it is dumb? I already said a rule can be dumb even if someone has the right to make it.

I’m not the one constantly bringing her and the Light up. You are.

Bingo, and the warp is something that twistes you if you use it too much and might corrupt you. If anything, the warp is more like Warcrafts fel and the void.

Addictive, whispers to you, eventually corrupts you and want to spread your ways.

The Light actually spreads compassion, harmony, love, feelings of warmth. Something like that makes you vastly less likely to go on a Dune like Jihad against the cosmos or a crusade for the god emperor of man.

Warhammer = Do you want to die a horrible death by Necron, Warp magic, Chaos Gods and their demonic armies, Eldar, Imperium of Man, a Ork WAAGH or Tyranid invasion and be used a genetic material

WoW = Light feels you with positive feelings and than you people going WHY AREN’T THOSE RELIGOUS FOLKS MURDERING EVERYONE IN SIGHT?!!!

It’s……It’s certainty an interesting view point.

That is another jarring aspect of the writing. I understand we are supposed to sympathize with Alleria, but it doesn’t work.

If Alleria came back infused with Arcane, Life, or Elemental energies and X’era was abhorred and imprisoned her then I would say X’era was being draconian. But it is Void energy. Magic that is so dangerous the Titans installed a failsafe to prevent planetary corruption.

Given the intensity of what magic Alleria was dabbling with, X’era was being reasonable ( also somewhat compassionate given the appeals from Turaylon and Lothraxion).

it’s like one religious dude with a bee in his bonnet who complains. no one’s ’dunking on religious people.’

Way to miss the entire point of my post.

i didn’t, i disagreed. the number you describe is minimal to the point of negligibility. people don’t understand the difference between an expectation and a desire, and so assume all expectations are desires lol

Clearly you didn’t because 1) I didn’t mention any numbers and and was talking about blizzard and 2) I simply said the trope of every religious person being a zealot needs to die

But keep pretending you read or understood it when you clearly didn’t on both accounts

lol doesn’t even seem like you understood your own point, then.

honestly would love if the people getting upset at the scarlet comparisons could show us any that they’re not projecting or that actually indicate desire. but evidently that subtlety is lost on some
