Devs get all the attention, but let’s take a moment to appreciate the man who gave us the single most iconic and memorable aspect of WoW - the music.
From “Totems of the Grizzlemaw” to “Valley of the Four Winds,” his talent has made our time spent in Azeroth immersive and memorable.
It is my sincere hope that he never stops making music for our beloved game.
Thank you, Russell.

He stopped after Legion when they laid him off, but I still appreciate him very much.

The music of WoW is on its own level, truly some of the best out there.
I posted a rough analysis of the music for Ny’alotha, the two big techniques being the use of the Shepard’s tone, an acoustic illusion that tricks your ear into thinking the melodic line is permanently descending, used in conjunction with how the music deconstructs itself and sounds like it’s frying your sound card.
Really cool stuff that they’ve been working on.
He was the music director; he did not compose all the WoW music you hear in game. Check the credits and you will see more of the music was written by others. I am not trying to crap on your thread but give credit where its due.

Currently listening to my World of Warcraft station on Pandora as we speak.
I hate to pick favorites from WoW music, but this is by far my favorite piece of his in all of WoW.
This is very much true. I believe most people who wonder who made WoW’s music likely searched that question and saw that half-truth result of his name in the search result. There are many other composers on the team. I’ve been listening to their music long enough to tell who made each piece.
Edit: I guess they changed it to Jason Hayes now, so I stand corrected.
