The RNG in this game broke my sanity today

I can’t stop laughing. I’ve literally NEVER received an upgrade from a weekly chest because ironically they reward me with things I already have. 4 weeks in a row I got the same belt (beginning of the xpac). It eventually made me not care about weekly chests. Sometimes I’d forget to check them. Before I logged off last night I capped my conquest and got an AP robe. I log in today, and since I was already in the Mugambala I decided to check the chest. Lo and behold, it is literally the exact same item I got before I went to bed with the exact same artifact powers. What are the chances?!?!

Yeah, that’ happens.

Though if you get the exact same item, it’d make sense it had the same powers wouldn’t it?

I got the same ring on 2 different toons, at the same ilvl. While an upgrade for my alt, it just was a kick in the nuts getting the 410 version from the chest whilst I got the 420 ilvl version of the same ring last night after a +14.

Look. Blizzard is in the business of getting you to come back over and over again and intermittent reinforcement has proven to do just that dangling the chance that you will get that sweet 0.9% upgrade week after week. If you don’t like it, just have to stop playing or rewire your brain :frowning: .

People need to stop giving a damn about RNG.

I know it sucks, but you literally can’t control how much RNG there is in this game. This is why I no longer actively gear or play, and if you do, you’re bound to be disappointed.

You are pulling a lever in a slot machine. And the house always wins.

No. PvP AP gear has several options, but I see what you’re saying. Out of ALL the possibilities I got the same piece of gear within a few hours :stuck_out_tongue:

I once got a 410 wrist from the chest the same week that I looted a 410 wrist, but I’ve generally found chest loot to be upgrades so far as I recall.

I was OK with some RNG in earlier versions of WoW (Celestials in MOP, Vault of Archavon in WOTLK, etc.) for a weekly shot at a piece of gear.

But when the entire gearing system is RNG it goes way too far.

PVE is forced into Personal RNG loot
PVP is forced into random RNG acquisitions

It makes for a really crappy system.

You want to know what RNG broke me? The stupid alchemy pets. I still have not received one of the BFA ones from either of my two alchemist.

I ended up buying them on the AH because it was bugging me that they weren’t completed on my “All the Things” addon…lol

The amount of garbage and trash pets that alchemy recipe spits out is shameful. Can’t even sell them have to delete them.

On the loot side of things every time I turn in the torta emissary they give me the exact same trinket I already have. Even when I am in dire need of a ring. Not even warforged. Often lower than the same trinket I already have on… someone suggested turning it into the alt continent and that seems to have helped.

I gave up worrying about it. I too have a bag full of pieces I can’t use because of good ole RNG. So I have moved on realizing I will just have to deal with terrible stats. :woman_shrugging:
