The Return of the Lich King

I would absolutely enjoy having Bolvar coming down to the continents (specifically the two ones that started WoW- Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms). I would enjoy having him confront both Alliance and Horde. Even though he stayed in Northrend and “assisted” in Legion, he has remained neutral. But, since the Horde and Alliance have been basically “slapping each other” instead of a full all out war, what better way to bring him and the Scourge to attack the Horde (first), based on the amount of undead this faction has.

I would consider bringing the Lich King to the forefront because after Arthas dying, he has gotten plenty of screen time. I understand he was the main antagonist and has history with the lore, but in a smaller level, so does Bolvar.

Have him destroy the undead part of the Horde, only to attack the Alliance afterwards. But all of this must be done before the end of the expansion, so then the new expansion has a patch where we go after him and wipe out the Scourge once and for all. If the latter is destroyed completely, then the Lich King would not be of use.

Is Bolvar undead or living? If he is living, what does he eat you think? What does his diet consist of?

Well to be fair the biggest threat to him that glorified chemical weapons plant being run out of Undercity has been destroyed.

No. What he should do is kill Alliance and raise them into undeath. And then the Horde and Scourge can rule over Azeroth and fight every void being on this planet so Azeroth can finally be truly free.

For whatever reason I really like that idea. It’s weird to know that the lich King is still just hanging out in northrend ready to do his thing at a moment’s notice.
Also, I wonder if slyvannas still has beef with the lich King even tho the host has changed?

This would actually be pretty awesome but it would require some good writing :sob:

Or just third faction the scourge. Send undead and dks over. I’d actually enjoy the game again.

Man you know that’s too hard for this small indie company. It’s already hard enough for them to have 2 factions.

Nah, Ner’zhul, the Helm of Dominations original host, is gone. It’s just Bolvar, and the influence of the Saronite around him.

Yea blizzard is clown shoes from here on out.

There is plenty of content to be written. Sylvanas may want the Scourge because they are relentless. But the Lich King staying in Northrend idle for many years is a cause for alarm for any living creature.

Now that the Legion (again) was defeated, there needs to be a powerful enemy to life itself. This is how both the Alliance and Horde suffer losses and are (grudgingly) in need to unite against the Undead Scourge. Sylvannas can still lead the undead, but Bolvar should lead the Scourge and all Dead Knights.

I know, it sounds like an Executive Order 66, but that would bring some life into the game. But as someone stated before: this requires good writing, not some Hollywood writer with a fertile mind. Just someone (ala Chris Metzen) who knows the game and can write for the game. Thoughts?

The game needs this kind of expansion. If it’s handled properly, it’d bring WoW back the subs it originally had… maybe. Nearing the end of WotLK, the game had the most subs it’s ever had and they only started to noticeably drop during Cata and beyond.

Honestly unless they pull a stupid hamfisted ‘redemption’ story for Sylvanas the more likely outcome I can see is that she’s exiled (either willingly or involuntarily) after being ousted as Warchief and she goes to Northrend to try to take over the Scourge from Bolvar…whether she takes a large chunk of the Forsaken (at least in lore and the player characters are part of the ones who stay loyal to the Horde) with her or not because doing so would give her a large undead army completely bent to her will and presumably more val’kyr (I’m assuming the ones who made a pact with her weren’t the only ‘survivors’ of the undead ones).

Subs will never get back up that high

LOL. Yeah, you’re right. Ah, well, I still think that this kind of expansion would be good for the game.

Yea it would help subs some but this is a dying genre. Wow is running on fumes.

What? Where do I read this at?

I hope Bolvar comes back and stabs Sylvanas in the face and steals her army OR they team up as king and queen of undeath and take over the world.

The novel “Arthas: Rise of the Lich King”. Arthas killed Ner’zhul’s spirit near the end of his dormant, frozen phase on Icecrown.

Though I guess to be fair, you can argue he didn’t totally destroy Ner’zhul and speculate that his influence still exists somehow but he no longer exists as a dual personality within the helmet.

In the Rise of the Lich King novel Arthas overpowers and destroys both Nerzhul and the younger “innocent” version of himself so he can have full control over the Helm.

But I think that has been retconned by Chronicles 3 to say Nerzhul is subdued but not destroyed. I am unsure of this though.
